You'd think Hack would teach Jets fans not to project college QBs a year in advance.

Justin Herbert will be in the conversation next year. He's under the radar right now because of Mariota's shadow and being on a terrible team but he's got the goods. He's only a sophomore and a Marcus Arroyo is coaching him up.

The popular spread qb looks to be Mason Rudolph from Oklahoma State.

You say this based off of what though?

A handful of anonymous quotes that surfaced throughout the season last year?

That he was projected as a #1 overall pick a year before the draft and ended up going in the 2nd round.

Most people were unsure or even wrote him off prior to his junior season. Hell, go back and look at past posts in the draft forum talking about Hack before his junior season, and most were down on him.

He isn't perfect but has NFL size and man does he throw a pretty deep ball.

Josh Rosen seems like he is being groomed. He'll probably be the first QB taken. ESPN will talk about him like he is ready to supplant everyone.

And he will probably be great.

But I think he is an asshole and I hope he fails and ends up holding a clipboard for Crappenburg.

I don't want him. Dude's a spoiled jock with a jaccuzi in his room. And having Mora as his coach sure as shit didn't help any. We can't afford to screw this rebuild up. Darnold or bust for me.

I get the thought process behind this but I can't really get excited about the possibility of drafting a QB next year before this season even starts. The absolute best case scenario for the team both now and moving forward is Hackenberg wins the job from Day 1, plays like a stud and proves everyone wrong, Mac looks wise and the team overachieves . That's what I'm hoping happens. There's a ton of negativity around Hack and rightfully so but the kid deserves a chance and I'm hoping he can be the answer. Seems far fetched but we haven't seen what the kid has; stranger things have happened.

You just described Hackenberg, and he's actually on our roster

First, will any of these guys actually perform up to expectations? We've seen enough evidence to know they probably all won't, and maybe even none will. Moreover, their guy may decide he doesn't want to play for them, and decides to stay in school.

Second, will the Jets actually "win" a chance at drafting the one they want? It will probably take 2-12 at "best" to ensure this, but it might take 1-15 or even 0-16. In any case, I don't see the Jets losing more than 3 games, and might well win as many as 6, so I continue to say that those who are banking on them being able to take their FQB next year are deceiving themselves.

So all this speculation on who you'd pick is WAY premature.

I didn't say he was a failure, keep your panties on. My point is they chose wrong, just as the Jets always seem to do.

Nobody will know if they chose wrong, Marino may well not have fit in with the Jets like Ken did, he more likely would have done but it is still a shit comparison imo, it does tend to label one of our better players as a failure whether you meant it or not.

Well if the jets don't get their guy next year, its over. Man what i would give to get a 2-14 showing and get the guy - just like the colts did, twice.

Can we do this for once, please?

Yeah I've been calling for this since lat season ended. This is their best chance to turn this thing around in a few years.

no. like rex, they will go to some place like titans, win a meaningless game late in the year, and end up with the 5th or 6th pick and those 3 guys will be gone. it may not be by those teams, but also somebody who trades up ahead of the jets.

like atlanta did with farve, and we ended up with browning nagle. typical jets luck/front office talent.
