I don't think either Bowles or Mac are going anywhere in the next couple of seasons.
It's clear the team has been intentionally blown up in order to rebuilt the team.
Mac and Bowles came in to a bad situation, short on picks, no cap space and aging players.

I think it's pretty clear that Woody signed off on a rebuild from the bottom up and if you're going to sign off on a total rebuild if you're going to change the Front office or coaching staff you do it BEFORE the draft, not after.
In order to reboot the team and rebuild it primarily through the draft process takes consistency in the front office and on the Field.
the Rooney's have understood this (the Steelers have gone through a few dry spells over the decades). Dallas has rebuilt primarily through the draft over the years, etc.

Teams that are consistently good have two things in common...the foundation of their teams are home grown talent, they have consistent front offices and head coaches (more the former than the latter), and they don't panic when they go through a dry spell...

Now if in 2 or 3 seasons the Jets aren't looking MUCH better then that's a different story. But if you blow up the team and start the rebuild you go in to it for the 'long haul'...you can't rebuild a roster changing front offices and or head coaches ever 2 years. You can't keep changing philosophy's and direction.

Disagree regarding Mac. it's not about this season and that's not enough time to gauge this season's draft, and upcoming signings properly. He'll be here next year. Bowles is another story and I don't believe they're tied at the hips. There's still way too much to find out, and to be done to accurately gauge what the long term view is. It's not about this season. Everybody knows they're not good this year.

I was going to start a new thread, but I'll put this here.

What would Maccagnan have to do to win you over in the 2018 off-season? I'm already a fan of Mac, and I think that 2017 is the start of Woody allowing Mac to do his job unabated.

We are likely looking at a 5-11, maybe 6-10 season. Our defense will keep us in most games, and I see us losing a lot heart breakers on fumbles, interceptions, and our offense not being able to put more than 17 points on the board. We're getting another high draft pick.

I feel like Mac is doing the rebuild in stages, and we are going to rebuild the OL in the 2018 off-season.

Agree the owner is doing the right thing for MM But you can't say we will get a high draft pick in 18 if we have 5 or 6 wins That's disasterous

Marvin Lewis isn't an encouraging example. The Bengals are only slightly better than .500 in his fourteen seasons, were 6-9-1 last year, and have never won a postseason game (0-7 in the playoffs during his tenure). Rex had a better resume with us than Lewis does with the Bengals, and we rightly still fired him.

Anything in top 10 is a high draft pick. We could have picked all the way up to 15 and come away with a talented player.
