If, yes. Depending on how quickly the new Safeties adapt to the NFL. Big question mark on the LB corps though and if we're honest, unless a QB really blossoms this year and the Oline plays lights out, this team won't score much.
Agreed on the previous administration. IMHO this team needs to stay the course for 2-3 more seasons and let the team be built up from the ground up with a solid core that can be maintained and built around. It's a good start IMHO considering the hand they had when they walked in, limited picks, aging roster, and in cap hell, albeit not the worst cap hell I've ever seen, but the cap was tied up on players on their decline and severely limited the ability to bring in and maintain young talent. The Jets desperately need to rebuild their O-line with good young talent, but this year wasn't the year...too bad they didn't decide to blow it up and start from scratch last season when the O-line class was very deep.
Agree on 2014 draft with shaq evans in 4th round. How about Dex McDougle in the high THIRD round?!!! Most draft reports I read had him as a likely undrafted free agent and Idiot idzik takes him 1 round earlier earlier than Shaq. McDougle was injured most of his senior year of college (so why draft him in round 3?) and he is now entering his 4th year with the jets and has done nothing but stay injured or scratch his butt on the practice squad. I even laughed when Bowles mentioned McDougle after the 2017 draft as one of his possible corners for 2017--Todd Bowles, the great talent evaluator.
^^ It's just utterly preposterous that Idzik, Rex, Dennis Thurman, Mac, & Bowles never saw that scouting report from early in the draft process on CBS.com or Bleacher Report that year on McDougle. Yet here he is still in NFL in what would be his 4th season if not for an ACL. While there's a bunch of dudes drafted before him that couldn't even stay on with the teams that drafted them.... He must have pics of Woody and Rex doin' the dirty. It's the only logical explanation. Btw, he was drafted in the middle of the third round. Just sayin', for context. Know what I'm sayin'?
hets will start 1-12 then win the last 3 to screw their draft pick up, miss on a top QB/Edge rusher and then take another dlineman or corner with the pick
Hasn't history proven yhat HOF'ers and all pro players can be found in any round? I dont believe in tanking. Play to win every game and let the scouts and GM earn their pay by finding talent.
We won't see 8-8 for al least 2 years. The roster is still horrible and lopsided talent wise. Until they address the offense side like they have invested in the defense side the Jets will be awful.
