The Jets will have a top 10 draft pick next year...oh wait, that's not good news at all. But now that I have your attention. I know this years draft wasn't a sexy draft. I also know that a lot of holes weren't filled. But then again this team was leaking worse than the Titanic so a one year fix wasn't on the table anyway. Overall I'm pretty happy with the draft. If I could change one pick I would have changed the Jets 3rd round pick and taken Fabien Moreau. Yeah, he's an injury risk but the guy is a first round talent when healthy and I'd gamble that on a 3rd round pick. I'm very happy the Jets didn't reach for a QB or OL in this draft. I'm also very happy with the wheeling and dealing to pick up additional picks, including a 5th next year. Hopefully the Jets can deal some players who don't fit in to the long term picture and pick up a couple more picks for next year. All in all the safety corp is looking good now. CB is a worry though. But hey, first year of the rebuild is off to a good start and if Hack struggles this year the Jets could very well have a top 5 pick in next years draft in what, at this point, looks like a bumper crop year for QB's.
I think it would be bad news if the jets aren't picking top 3. Next year is the year we get our QB. Unless of course we go 8 - 8 and fuck it up.
I'm pretty sure with Bowles we will be top 3 in the 2018 draft. How else do you explain offering Cade 4 million more than anyone else to come here. His record is 2-22. The Jets are paying more to tank. It's like that Alec Baldwin movie The Cooler. He's a casino owner and when someone is getting too lucky at the tables he calls out a guy to touch the table and the guy starts losing instantly.
they paid McCown to come here as a veteran presence in the locker room. The plan is becoming clear, to start Hack.
The Jets could win 4-6 games pretty easily next year. They're going to have to work to lose the 14 they have to lose to have a shot at the #1. The defense is going to be reasonable. A reasonable defense is going to win you 2 games accidentally when you run into the gang that couldn't shoot straight on the other side of the field. That could easily be the Jaguars and the Browns week 4 and 5 and suddenly we're 2-3 and on life support in terms of the #1 pick but there are no more than 4 other wins out there on the schedule because our offense is brutal and most gangs can shoot straight.
If McCown is the opening day starter, then we know there's absolutely no plan going on with this team and we need to be looking at new coaching/GM staff.
If Hackenberg starts and goes 8-8 I would say that's a good sign. Considering our roster and schedule. Why does everyone say "oh, next year we will get our QB" It's no guarantee any of those kids will come out, be healthy or even be good. The draft is a crap shoot.
I'm gonna laugh my ass off when Darnold decides to stay another year and Rosen is out with injury the whole season. This board will be in absolute shambles.
We will still be in the running. Bowles will stay around and run this team into the ground and Macc draft picks will continue to fizz out. See you were thinking short term 2018. You can add 4 to 5 more years. Our QB of the future is not even born yet.
I have to disagree, only the Browns and the Jag's look to be even matches for the Jets this year, the rest of the schedule? all much better teams than the jets...barring injury or some players having career years, or injuries on the other team, 4 wins is the top imho.
Well it may not be "good news", but at least we're not Bills fans: http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/04/30/...ed-after-draft-sean-mcdemott-terry-kim-pegula
I'm gonna laugh my ass off when Cook is a top 5 rusher and wins ROY while Forte nurses a season long hamstring injury. This board will be in absolute shambles.
If the Rookie Safties are as good as advertised... If the young Linebackers show a little progress (Thanks Kevin Greene!).... If big Mo and Sheldon play like they want to win.... If Leonard Williams doesn't contract whatever health/attitude problems the other DEs seem to have come down with.... If two or three CBs can play at something close to a respectable level.... Hit on all of those, and the Jets will have the best defense in the league. Hit on 3 out of 5, and they could still be top 10. Hit on only 1 or 2 (or none), and the guys clamoring for that #1 pick are going to be excited all season. Offense is easier: If the offensive line can keep the running game above the bottom 10 in the league.... If the offensive line can keep at least one QB currently on the roster healthy enough to attempt a pass through week 10.... If a QB can show enough to make us care whether or not he is kept healthy through week 10.... If we don't hit on at least 2 of 3 here, nothing else on offense is going to matter in 2017.
