I guess this means we'll never get to see him turn into Todd Pinkston 2.0 in a Jets uni.

building from within, IMHO, is what they did with Enunwa. He was here and they didn't have to force him into his roll because of Marshall and Decker. It helped he basically lost his first season to injury because he would have probably been thrown to the dogs and/or cut otherwise

Drafting to replace is what we did with Revis/Milliner. We draft a guy that is expected to come in day one and play at a high level. I have no problem with looking for another but when you are drafting guys to replace the guys you drafted to immediately replace a starter; it's just wheel spinning.

A good example is how we picked Landry of the trash heap and he had a good season and walked. Although it was a season apart, the Pryor pick was probably meant to be a direct replacement for Landry. This was done a season after Milliner was taken as a direct replacement for Revis. I had forgotten about it but Winslow walks and we take Amaro who is now Leggette.

It would be nice to go in and have a draft where we were taking complimentary players or somebody that play without needing to be an integral cog immediately; that's all I'm saying. That and we need a coaching staff that can actually develop the players we draft. The last regime couldn't do it and I have my reservations about this one.

So you're saying maybe the roster could use some depth?
That's not how things are done around here. The Jets like to have a roster of starters who were elite at some point in the last 3-5 years and scrubs who were third string role players in college and probably should be washing cars or serving fries.
