watched a bit of tape on him physical ,effort and got speed for the position , good tackling same like adams . complete safety only weakness is when the play is not in front of him he panics so basicly he might play sort of FS because he is not good covering man to man in my opinion. I just hope they can get a pick from calvin pryor today then i can understand this pick . He is better then keanu neal in my opinion and neal was taken 17th overall last year.
I'm actually thrilled with how the 1st- 3rd rounds went...we are adding young quality talent to a team in despret need of playmakers on both sides of the ball, cutting dead wood in the process. Gilchrist was a very good signing at the time but his injuries and price tag are not worth carrying into next season...we simply do not know how he will recover. Pryor just never lived up to the hype and will certainly be addition by subtraction. Mac will be judged more on what he does in these later rounds then in the 1st- 3rd...he needs to hit on most of these guys being contributors in some capicity in 2017 and beyond.
Doesn't say much about Mac? It would be worse if he kept players just because he brought them in. It's good he can admit fault and is willing to cut his own mistakes.

You either trust your GM or you don't. I actually like what he did this year a lot. The main benefit of good scouting is you can find really good values in later rounds (there's fairly good consensus through the 2nd or 3rd round). I like the way he traded down a few times to pick up 3 extra picks in the mid to late rounds (one of the picks is next year). If he has good scouting (which is yet to be determined i think) then he'll hit on 3 or 4 of his late round picks. That's how you build a consistent winner. His philosophy is he drafts BPA in the early rounds and fills his remaining holes with free agents which are generally good players, but not great ones (and, consequently, significantly cheaper than the great ones).

Man, watching his highlight reel on Youtube, and the thing that jumps out to me the most is that he is constantly wrapping guys up properly, stopping their momentum, and bringing them down. If he can do that in the green and white, I'll be a happy fan.
Pryor may wind up as the Rooster in Bowles 3-3-5. He's more suited to being in the box with a defined role than freelancing the way a SS often does.

Ill say it one more time, at the risk of getting flamed by the " offense at all cost" or die fans The first two picks were nothing short of superb. We will for once have true leaders in the secondary. And for those of you that think Maye is another in the box version of Pryor go watch some film man, he will be the absolute steal of the draft. And let us please dispense with the absolute BS thought that replacing his prior free safety is an indictment on his selection of two years ago, it takes savvy and balls to change direction properly when things don't work out as originally directed to satisfy the owner.
Are we really going to redefine the way defense is played though? Has this type of defense ever been successful? We can't run that sort of formation with both Darron Lee and Calvin Pryor on the field. We would get run all over. If we had a bigger linebacker in that place we could maybe make it happen. A 4-2-5 is intriguing but again we're talking about the same issues. We can obviously adjust based on packages. But three receivers a tightend and a runningback gives them 6 blockers for 6 in the box players. That's poor odds on the defense front. Does all the beef up front make up for it maybe?
Bowles ran something just like this in AZ with Deone Bucannon playing LB at 6'1" 220. He's a safety by trade but playing over the TE in this defense. Cardinals were #6 against the run that year.
No one hits on every player. Also, Gilchrist was pretty good his first year. But sometimes you have to admit your mistakes and correct them.
Lee is 6'1, 232 and I'm guessing the Jets want him to add 10 lbs to that as his normal playing weight.
Just a highlight reel but very happy. Loved the way he always went after the ball as well. Quite a number of forced fumbles in there.
