Seems like a lot to have to invest to seal one of many weak spots on this team.

Championship teams usually have a Pro Bowl Safety. Now the Jets have a potential Pro Bowl-caliber Safety. I'll take it.

I love value in the middle of the field and we've gotten 3 of those guys in Macc's 3 drafts. Now we need to find the QB to build around.

BTW, our tankability is dropping like a stone at this point. The QB is going to have to be very bad to lose 14+ games and that's what we're going to have to do with the Browns lucky to win 3 and loaded for Bear with extra 1sts next year.

BTW2, Jimmy Johnson took over a 3-13 team and went 1-15 and 7-9. Jets fans would have driven him out of town before he ever got the Cowboy dynasty rolling. Belichik went 5-13 his first 18 games as Pats head coach, ditto.

I am sure they will play Pryor next to Adams this year and see how it plays out.

I am sure we will all know by week 8 where Pryor will end up (free safety, off team).

Lee is not that bad. He got a bad rap but his rookie year was better than Shaziers.

i think it's more what happens to ghilcrest. I think this pick means we move on from him probably with an injury settlement and release.
Adams is very similar of a player to landon collins. a hybrid like safety with some cover skills, some centerfield skills, and the ability to play in the box. I think we move him around a lot on defense. the issue is pryor is much more limited in that his FS skills are garbage. he's an in the box only type player. which makes adams a tough pic.

The Jets aren't going to make any moves with Adams to accommodate Pryor.

Adams will play where the Jets see him as the best fit and then they'll find somebody who can fill a complementary role. That may be Pryor or it may be Gilchrist or it may be Miles or it may be somebody not on the radar yet.

Adams is actually the pick I am happiest about since D'Brick and Mangold went 1-1a in 2006. The Jets took somebody who fills a primary role and the vibe is that he was BPA also. That's like cake and eat it too.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I think Jackson had what success he had because of who he had in front of him at Alabama. The scouting reports seem to bear this out. NFL.com Jackson as a 4th or 5th round pick. They have both Marcus Sanders Williams and Marcus Maye as 2nd-3rd round picks. CBS Draft Scout lists Jackson as a SS and a 3rd round pick. They have both Sanders Williams and Maye as FS and 2nd round picks.

I agree. If there are smart (which Bowles is not), they should play Adams wherever it suits HIM best and the hell with Pryor. I actually thought Middleton showed some potential last year. I think Calvin Pryor is another in a long line of busts--The few picks he has have been tipped balls he was lucky enough to run under--you ever see that guy make an athletic interception?

I have hopes for him, except his size, I think he was poorly coached, Martin

Maybe Pryor can play some hybrid linebacker / safety role

Maybe we could trade him to the Mets.

Adams can absolutely play free safety. Although he thrives as an in-the-box safety, he has exceptional range, instincts, and coverage skills. I am not too worried about playing him there

Easy, we move one of them to outside linebacker.

Seriously, free safety/strong safety designations are overrated because teams rarely play the base defense. Depending on the situation, we can play Adams and Pryor, where Adams is free, or Adams and Miles, where Miles is free.

Lee and Pryor look to be the same size to me

And that's the Jets problem in a nutshell.

They spend three picks on guys who can help cover the middle of the field and zero picks on guys who can exploit the middle of the field.

    Yep

Its life in the fast lane for the conga line of high picks for defense ,( Pryor was a number 1 as I recall)

That's all the Jets and this coach care about

When the defense runs outa gas because our O cant make a first down plus we are 3 scores behind someone will wonder why

As I have posted before, yes defense wins championships but your offense gets you to the Playoffs

Oh wait.... we need to lose about 15 games next year so who cares
