It doesn't matter that it possibly wouldn't cost much to move up. The Jets have lots of needs and need more picks, not less. The reason they are in this mess is from the stupid constant trading up by Tanny. You obviously learned nothing from Tanny's days as GM. IMO it doesn't matter that multiple sources have projected Lamp as a possible center. Aren't you one of the ones who has bitched about Mac taking Hack (a project QB) with the 2nd round pick last year? Do you really want Mac to take a project Center with the 2nd round pick this year? Why do that when Pat Elflein is still available and he's the top-rated C and has played the position for years? Taking a project C is ridiculous imo. Mixon is not a possibility because of his character. Mac as much as said that Mixon isn't on the Jets draft board. Pay attention. Mac wants high character types that won't be distractions. Talent isn't everything. Look at the Pats. They don't always take the most talented player. They usually take high character types (except Hernandez) who are very good football players, who are coachable, work hard, and have non-stop motors.
I would be very surprised if the Jets took Robinson. They are very high on Shell at RT, and I don't think Robinson projects as an LT in the NFL. At best, I think he will be a road-grading RT with some pass protection issues, and probably will wind up at OG. I don't think Mac would take an OG in the 2nd round. In addition, unless the Jets take Sidney Jones in the 2nd round, our 2nd rounder should be a starter this season. Robinson might beat out Shell, but would not start at OG.
so taking shots at the lower tier QBs and missing? hasn't helped the team. not including hack ebcuase he could wind up being good but geno was a clear miss as was petty
Jets gonna take a corner and the offense only people will lose their minds. To me it's down to EDGE vs CB vs offensive lineman. I think the Jets could find a RB in the later rounds. Could it be Kizer?
I mean I don't see the jets getting mixon But why not all our 2nd round picks since like 2007 have been terrible
The Jets aren't taking Kizer. You can forget that. I don't think they'll take an OL, either. If they're thinking need at all, it would surprise me if their 3 picks today aren't from among the OLB, CB, TE, RB, WR and maybe ILB or FS positions (if they're going to move Pryor). I don't think DL, QB, or OL are even considerations.
I have had a preference for offenses in the early rounds this entire draft seasons. However without a trade down Adams was a no brained selection and made Macs job extremely easy. And the way the first round went, unless Cook and Mixon are on Jets board and make it to our pick the talent available is on D and I agree the best picks will likely be a CB or edge rusher.
Woke up in cold sweats that the Jets selected Kizer at 39. Hopefully it wasn't a premonition of things to come.
LOL I can understand why that would be a REAL nightmare!!!! I would be shocked beyond belief if Mac took Kizer, especially at #39. Hopefully, he isn't even on their draft board!
like i said before we were in a bad position. mac made the right pick if there was no option to trade down. it just sucks we couldn't trade down for more picks and missed out on fournette and trub.
i'm aware but outside of like 1 year how many times has like 3 top QBs been successful in the NFL. only year i can think of was rivers, ben, and eli
If Cook is there, he's BPA. Not sure he gets past GB, and don't know if Mac wants to deal with his off field stuff. Kevin King would be nice at 39 if that's the way things fall. Having two tall corners would be great, and King is really versatile. I'm kind of dying inside for some offense though.
I could see a number of positions addressed that wouldn't surprise me. RB WR TE OL LB CB I think there is a number of directions the Jets can go in, good time to have a BPA strategy IMO.
52 total. right in the middle of the pack. only 1 more then seattle had who is known for a great secondary and has earl thomas kam chancellor and richard sherman. raiders were the worst with 61, giants were second worst with 59 and they had apple, jenkins (pro bowl), DRC, and collins (pro bowl and runner up for DPOTY) the issue is we look at what our team does bad but not how it compares to other teams in the NFL. we got so spoiled the past few years with stupidly good defenses especially the secondary that being "average" is considered being shitty now
it's not back peddling it's the fact we still have a clear need at QB. i'm ok with taking a shot on one in the later rounds
In terms of talent alone, yes, Cook or Mixon would be the BPA. In spite of his focusing on BPA, I don't think that Mac would even consider Mixon, and quite possibly not Cook either unless he had thoroughly vetted him, and to my knowledge the Jets never met with Cook. I would love offense too if Willis and Bowser aren't there. I would prefer Kamara or Smith-Schuster over Kevin King, but King would be a good pick. I'm hoping that GB takes Cook and one of Willis or Bowser will fall to the Jets.
