If you draft defense every year? The consensus is the first round is your best chance to get talent but you can find hidden gems in every round. But when you waste your capital in the first round every time on defense how do you get your team balanced. Now Macc has been mediocre in his picks and he really needs to knock it out of the park from here on out. I'm not really seeing Macc big picture. Its really not impressive telling people a player was the BPA.

What about when everyone else who gets paid to analyze the draft says he was the best player available?

It's been as much about drafting busts on offense is 2nd round as it has been taking defense in round 1. If we do go offense in the 2nd or 3rd we need to hit on that player. No projects please, that's what round 4+ is for.

I agree. And thats why Mixon makes the most sense and or Samuel from OSU. We need playmakers on offense, matchup nightmares.

This is one of the few times "BPA" actually matched a need. (Probably because the Jets are so damn needy). Now if they continue drafting defense into the later rounds, that would REALLY be disappointing.

I think the Adams pick is significant in that he brings attitude to a defense that is loaded with talented introverts. Besides needing better defense play, the Jets did need someone vocal who is going to get everyone riled up on game day. It sure as hell wasn't going to be Bowles. Hope the kid lives to the billing.

They could have drafted a punter or waterboy, they still had a need, they have about 40 needs

When Adams was available, it was a pick they HAD to make. Now I am interested in seeing Mac's next three picks. We only need help on 3 things, offense, defense and the kicking game, that's it.

Like I said before people get these picks wrong all the time and lose their job because of. How many prospects have you heard that were labeled can't miss? That list is long.

Worst roster in football. That was said last night and Macc only knows one side of it.

well we got a very good player and while I am not overly thrilled with the pick (wanted howard or trade out) - it is a definite need and as much a no brainer under the circumstances that were presented.

I think many thought the jets could trade out and I am sure they received numerous proposals but didn't pull the trigger. I guess having adams "fall" to 6 outweighed all trade prospects on the table.

the bills, 49ers, and browns are still QB needy (though the bills do have taylor) and positioning themselves for next year. the browns and bills have basically announced to everyone they will be taking a QB next year in round 1 as they both have an extra 2018 first rounder. the niners had a great first round and also have an extra pick next year in R3. the top 3 spots next year are going to have a hell of a premium attached to them and some team is going to make out like a bandit by trading out.

the jets really need some ammo and should be moving back in round 2 and even 3. I think its imperative that when today is finished they have at least another 2018 3rd rounder.

unless they plan on going 1-15 then it really doesn't matter. the selections of these 3 QB's last night just shows everyone how fixated teams are on a QB and how aggressive u have to be to get one. apparently the 2018 QB class is more talented than the trio we just saw get picked. can u imagine the blood in the water next april. whew.

I have more problems with how were now the little brother in the race for darnold next year. Both the Browns and Bills have ammo and we're shooting blanks.

I'm less mad about adams... since our secondary is so bad, we need a leader an he can do it all vs the pass and run game...

what im more upset about is seeing KC and Ten pay great value to mvoe up and us not being in on that. we could have added alot of picks. which is really what we need to rebuild. look at the haul cleveland has right now for next years draft

You can't just make a team accept a trade. The Chiefs probably didn't want to pay the price to move all the way up to 6 and reach for Mahomes and I guarantee the Texans didn't want to pay the price even though Watson would have been less of a reach. I wanted to trade down too and seeing teams like Buffalo benefit from a trade sucks. But you can't just tell a team you are making a trade with them and then make the trade.

Just because it is said doesn't make it a fact. That was a little harsh, don't you think? First, if it were true we'd be picking 1st not 6th. Second, the vets on this team mailed it in last year. They quit. The effort that was put out was ZERO. The only exceptions were Williams and some of the young guys. The guys who quit are mostly all gone, replaced with less experienced, but younger, faster, hungrier players with upside and something to prove. In my opinion, the team is already better than last year - not that it takes much for that - on the effort that will show up alone.

The roster with the least "names" on it in football right now - maybe. The worst roster in football? Doubtful, but we won't know that until after the pre-season. And neither will anybody else.

So it was Bowles' coaching that took the worst roster in football to 5 wins and kept us out of the top pick?

That case could be made since Bowles waited too long to take a look at Petty and refused even garbage time for Hack. They knew early on the team was going nowhere and should have taken the opportunity for an extended look at all the kids on the roster. Instead they tried to squeeze every last dollar from the great Fitzgerald Heist of 2016.
