What are your thoughts on Roderick Johnson as a late 3rd developmental LT? I've not seen much of him, but having read from various sources, he seems like the type of guy MM would pick.
This is what I was thinking. He'll be gone with one of the first two picks although I wonder why they both traded down and risked him not being there. I'd take Cook in a heartbeat. He's a great talent. The best runningbacks generally come out of the second round. After him and maybe Mixon, I don't touch a runningback until the 4th/5th. Not sure they'd bring a guy like Mixon in despite the fact that I'd personally give the guy a second chance. I would also look at Butt & Legget in the third ideally. They may not last that long though. It'd be cool and all to keep taking defensive players and just build this unstoppable 2000 Ravens defense, but we need to take some offensive difference makers. If we're going to go into 2017 with dogshit at quarterback they're going to need all the help we can get. Apparently the Jets not liking Hackenberg is all media fabricated bullshit and Maccagnan confirmed with Francessa that they like him a lot. With that being said, I'm not a big Kizer fan, but he's the last quarterback I'd consider in this draft. No thanks to the Pearman/Webb, etc. kind of guys. They're flyer guys that likely wouldn't even make the roster next year. Don't waste pick. Our big board should look something like this: - Dalvin Cook, RB - JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR - Joe Mixon, RB - Cam Robinson, OT - Curtis Samuel, FLEX (offense) - Pat Elflein, C - Forrest Lamp, OG - Zach Cunningham, ILB - Ethan Pocic, C Really gotta go offense IMO though. I'd try like hell to trade up for Cook. He'd help the offense a ton and solves our runningback problems for the next 5 years. I don't want another defensive back in the second. Can't go secondary/secondary. It neglects too many other position groups. I like the idea of Cunningham. I thought he was a surefire first round pick. Dudes a tackling machine and can be our new faster David Harris.
Thinking about it further i'd even consider Garcia in the 2nd. He's not a day 1 starter imo, but he's a future starting LT and we are building for the future.
I don't know much about him, but if the Jets are thinking of taking an LT, I'd rather they take Antonio Garcia or Julie'n Davenport.
I think our big board should look more like this Dalvin Cook Forrest lamp Cam Robinson Chidobe Awuzie Kevin King JuJu Smith-Schuster I'd be very happy with any of them but would really like it if we can trade back in the round, add a third and take Jones later in round 2. I know you are against taking a D back but it's the strength of the draft and a need.
My preference would be: 1. Cam Robinson (OT) 2. Jordan Willis (OLB) (4.53 speed seems like just what we need from the edge.) Once these fails - then offensive playmakers. [Dalvin Cook, JuJu, et al.]
My favorites from that list are Jordan Willis, T. Bowser, C. Godley, A. Kamara, S. Jones, A. Shaheen, K. King, C. Awuzie, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and A. Witherspoon. I don't know C. Wormley, C. Samuels, J. Reynolds, S. Griffin, D. Westbrook, C. Hansen, or D. Walker but immediately disqualify both Wormley and Walker because the Jets don't need another DL. Of the others, I would disqualify the following for the reasons given. Q. Wilson - overrated and not a good fit T. Williams - overrated and not that good J. Lewis - has character issues and probably will go undrafted T. Tabor - overrated and not a good fit C. Lawson - injury history and overrated G. Kittle - is an H-Back or move TE, not a 2-way TE, which is what the Jets need imo. He's the only player on this list that I'd be happy with taking, but would rather have a 2-way TE G. Everett - is an H-Back or move TE, not a 2-way TE, which is what the Jets need imo. B. Hodges - is an H-Back or move TE, not a 2-way TE, which is what the Jets need imo. A body catcher. C. Tankersley - overrated. I saw Clemson play a number of times and he was always getting beat
This is why I really, really want Lamp and think we would be wise to move up for him. If Mixon is not an option I would hope we get either Kamara or Shaheen later even if it means moving back up into round two.
The Jets aren't trading up. That would be stupid. They need more picks, not less. I don't see their taking Lamp, either. Their 2nd round pick needs to start. Lamp won't start unless he can play C and he's never played it in his life. He's a very good prospect, but not for the Jets imo. They need to upgrade their depth, and within the next year or two, need to take an OG to replace Carpenter in a couple of years, but I think there will be OGs just as good as Lamp available next season. I think it's more important to add a TE, CB and RB. Kamara and Shaheen would definitely be nice adds, but again, the Jets cannot move up to take anyone.
What about Cam Robinson for our next pick - if he is still there? Our OL could use some more help and a better OL is surely one way of making life easier for our Q/B next season - whoever he is.
First of all moving up six or less spots in round two is not going to cost much. Second of all, multiple sources have projected Lamp as a possible center. Third of all you listed the three deepest positions in the draft as needs yet took the best player that fills those needs (Mixon) out as a possibility. You really are a negative Nancy,
I can't see drafting anyone on offense besides Mixon or Cam. The defensive talent is just too rich to reach for the other available O prospects.
Among those, I'd choose from: Sidney Jones Kevin King Chidobe Awuzie Quincy Wilson Cam Robinson Forrest Lamp Jordan Willis Dalvin Cook And not on your list: S Eddie Jackson ALA Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
