http://www.cc.gatech.edu/gvu/ii/sportvis/nfldraft/run/ An info graphic showing draft picks over the past 10 years for each franchise with breakdowns for player status, games played, and approximate value. How the approximate value is determined, i'm slightly unsure as it makes reference to pro-football reference. But it's a nice breakdown on who the Jets have drafted over the past 10 years, How many games have been played, if the player is still with the team, etc. What jumped out for me initially was the barren wasteland of drafting from 2009-2011.
Thanks! In looking at this graph, it shows that over those ten years, the Jets have had 26 picks in the first 3 (premium) rounds, and have used 17 of them on defense. How's that strategy working? While overall their split between "O" and "D" picks are roughly even, most of their "O" picks have been in the later rounds, with high probability of failure. It's clear what the philosophy of the Jets has been, but what has it gotten them? The definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results".
Another disappointing thing to note is the amount of players who are currently free agents or not in the league from the first three rounds.
