After looking at the schedule and having a night to sleep on it , I feel very good about Bowels getting fired ! Yes it will be a year too late but with Woody giving him that vote of confidence 2 months ago I was scared this ass clown might win 6 or 7 games and stick around for 2018, that won't be the case . I don't care what Woody says the out cry from fans and the negative press will leave Woodrow no choice . Omg if Todd is still employed going into the bye week can you imagine what the papers and sports radio are going to sound like those last 7 weeks ?
The biggest accomplishment I want out of the 2017 jets is to get rid of Bowles. That and tons of empty seats to embarrass the woodster. Other then that it's gonna be a real ugly season. I have never heard jets fans as negative as we r now and rightfully so. F woody. F zombie coach.
4 wins. home Jaguars, @Cleveland, LA Chargers at home in a 1:00EST start on Christmas Eve. And the doomsday scenario I laid out earlier in this thread, beating Patriot backups in the final week to miss out on a top 5 pick
Tanking and cleaning house is not fun but we need a rebuild Not to say that a rebuild will work (see browns) but it is what it is
WEEK 1: at Buffalo Bills - Swept them last year...I sense a repeat. 1-0. WEEK 2: at Raiders - We never play well here. Even when the Raiders were awful and we were good. 1-1. WEEK 3: vs. Dolphins - Revenge game. 2-1. WEEK 4: vs. Jaguars - Nope. 3-1. WEEK 5: at Browns - No shot. 4-1. WEEK 6: vs. Patriots - I think we have a chance at home, but I'll be realistic. 4-2. WEEK 7: at Dolphins - We play well in South Florida typically. 5-2. WEEK 8: vs. Falcons- Don't like this matchup at all. 5-3. WEEK 9: vs. Bills (Thursday Night Football) - SWEEP 6-3. WEEK 10: at Bucs - Long rest going in. 7-3. WEEK 11: BYE WEEK WEEK 12: vs. Panthers - Cam is injured by Week 5. 8-3. WEEK 13: vs. Chiefs - No 6 picks this time. 9-3. WEEK 14: at Broncos - Never an easy place to play. 9-4. WEEK 15: at Saints - Shootout. We can't win those. 9-5. WEEK 16: vs Chargers - Meaningless game for them. 10-5. WEEK 17: at Patriots - Win and we're in scenario. Gotta believe. 11-5. Rematch the following week, as this game cost the Pats* a bye.
11-5?... I see RobA is baack! This team doesn't win another game after the bye week. Maybe the Chargers but that's only because its on the east coast.
Obviously I don't see 11-5 but I also don't see any way this is a 2-3 win schedule. Any more than 3 wins and we are again left choosing between the at best 3rd best QB prospect who will surely not be a perfect prospect.
This is like you predicting the Jets to get shot down over Oakland by a maniac Raiders fan not content to see us stuffed on the field week 2. The scenario where the Jets actually do something this year is the one where we don't take a QB and either Hack or Petty is suddenly going on all cylinders in training camp, making our S/CB/OLB/RB/TE/TE/OL draft mean something when 5 of the 7 turn out to be players in a hurry. Obviously, trading down a couple of times increases the chances of finding 5 major contributors in the draft in one season. The great '77 draft had 6 real contributors picked through 227 picks but the Jets made 13 picks to that point to find them. Making 9 or 10 picks would help our chances pretty dramatically.
The only upside to not firing Bowles this year is possibly Sean Payton will be available next year, otherwise we are wasting our time with him at HC. We are giving him a chance to be worse than Kotite with this extra year.
I think we will have 4-6 wins this year. But to be honest I don't really care about the wins. I care about how the games are played, how the young players look, and how Bowles looks making coaching decisions, in game adjustments, etc. I already know the Jets won't win many games, its about how the Jets young core looks, and how they are coming along.
I was going to ask what the over/under was on 2 wins until I saw cimini says 1-15. The reality of course because we are the Jets that we will win just enough not to get even one of the top three picks so we will once again be looking to trade down...haha.
We will beat the Bills week 1. (we will beat them once and it won't be thursday infront of a national audience) We will beat one of the Browns/Jags We will beat the Chargers We will win one other surprise game, best guess is Tampa 4-12. not the number 1 pick but still completly inept. Best case scenerio we see a lot of positive stuff from young guys and it attracts a proper HC. It feels like the demolition is pretty much done, time to build.
