Make that trade, then take Mahomes at 12 and enjoy getting the better QB from the team that moved up to get their guy.
There's absolutely no way they pass on Garrett at #1 unless they get a trade that would be irresponsible to pass up. It honestly doesn't even really make sense for them to trade back because they have so many picks the next two years anyway.
I take Howard on the 12 if he is there or BPA if not and Mahomes on the 33 if he is there or BPA. In your scenario, not sure I want Mahomes. Gifted Air Raid QB's don't do so well in the NFL. Maybe Mahomes will be the exception but we're so cursed with QB's I'm not sure it's worth the gamble.
If Howard made it to 12 it's a slam dunk; don't think he will. Also don't see Mahomes getting to 33 either. I get your frustration with the Jets QB history, but that shouldn't stop them from pressing forward with trying to find one. The bad luck has to give eventually, statistically speaking. There's definitely a case to be made for several other players at that spot, and definitely a case to be made against any QB in this draft. I just think if Mahomes is someone the Jets think can rise above his college system, how can they pass? Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
I think Mahomes and maybe Kizer get to the 33. I think Trubisky and Watson go in the 1st. I think Webb might be better than all of the above and go in the 4th round, maybe the 6th, or maybe a shocker in the late 1st/early 2nd. I long for the supposed absolutes of the 2018 draft...
Keep in mind Mahomes outright took the starting QB job from Webb and forced him to transfer, and since then has been far more productive. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
Brian Griese kept Tom Brady off the field for 2+ years at Michigan. I do hear what you're saying though. It is unusual for an underclassman to unseat an upperclassman like that.

I don't think most think that will happen or want that to happen, I think either of those 2 would be too high if picked at 6 no matter how many pundits mock them to the Jets.
Jets path to a first round QB is via trade down. If they can't find a suitable trading partner, then there are other players available at 6 that are too good of prospects to take the risk on this year's QB class. The QB risk is only worth it when paired with more picks. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
There was a thread started a while back asking what posters would do, they overwhelmingly chose to not draft a QB in the 1st. Even if you include those that were ok with drafting one in any round, those that did not want a QB drafted this year still outnumbered those that did 37 to 16. I was one of those that picked drafting a QB in any round, to me that meant a 3rd or later so effectively the poll would have been 38-15 if it was just for one in the 1st. No one here has insight into what the Jets will do but your guess that they will draft a QB at 6 is only that, a guess. http://theganggreen.com/forums/threads/what-would-you-do-as-a-gm-poll.88299/
No offense, but I'm talking about all the opinions I'm hearing on sports radio and television, which most of the time the pundits say the Jets are the team likeliest to draft a quarterback first in the first round. I believe the Jets really like Trubisky. I'd rather have Watson, but if Mac goes risky drafting Trubisky, I won't be a bitch, I'll support Mitch.

Before I came across that article I looked at CBSSports.com, NFL.com, Walter Football, Draftek, Matt Miller, Fox Sports, USA Today, SI.com, Newsday and came up with 4 of 19 having the Jets pick a QB at 6. Some are duplicates of the other list but still nowhere near half have the Jets picking a QB. I don't think any QB in this draft is worth the 6th pick, much better value will be there at that pick.

Bottom line, I believe Mac drafts a quarterback in the first round, whether at 6, or lower should they trade down or trade back into the first round.
Trading down and taking a QB has always been an interesting option. Trading down and taking two QB's might even be in order. 6 for the 12 and the 33 and take 2 of the 4 QB's and have one to trade in a year or two and the better one playing QB for us. This would the "take off and nuke it from orbit because it's the only way to be sure" option.
We can't take a qb Mahomes or anyone in the 2nd round. Trade that freaking pick like it's hot....Up or down just get the hell out of the 2nd round. Do we never learn?
