This has it happen. I've been a pretty big fan of his and have been taking him with our 3rd round comp pick but now after Gruden has been raving about him I think if he last to our 3rd round pick we got to pull the trigger but he will prob go late second round.

I like Peterman, but I'm not sure he's a guy who could play this year, so if they draft him it means yet another "project" which they already have two of. Unless the consensus is that he could play this year, in which case I would be for taking him.

I'm not saying he would start this year but Gruden kinda thinks he could if needed

    Peterman: 'NFL-ready'

This is the eighth season for ESPN's "Gruden QB Camp," and the network said 57 quarterbacks — including 15 current NFL starters — went through five hours of film study and on-field drills with Gruden.

To say he was impressed with Peterman's quarterback acumen — and his ability to carry it into the NFL — would be a massive understatement.

"You're about as NFL-ready as any quarterback we've had come through here," Gruden said. "Your ability in the pocket, I hate to say it, but it's professional. Somebody is making a mistake not drafting you. You're good enough to be in the league today."

Humbled, but not shy, Peterman answered, "I believe so."

ESPN draft analysts Mel Kiper and Todd McShay agree, both placing Peterman in the second round in their latest mocks.

If any QB in the 3rd round is deemed to have the potential to be a franchise QB, even if the odds of success are remote, they have to take him.

I would slightly disagree with your proposition that we have 2 projects. We have an unknown project in Hack and a disposable QB in Petty who we hope can one day can develop enough to be a viable backup. Petty is easily replaced as there are lots of capable and better backup QBS always looking for work. His odds of making the roster this year at best is 50 percent and mostly dependent on whether another QB is drafted.

Hack is also disposeable but possessing a much higher ceiling than Petty as he has the potential to be a starting caliber QB. But keep in mind 2nd round picks rarely work out and are not given much of an oppurtunity as a QB before a team moves on. This year, at some point in the season, it will likely be Hack's time and oppurtunity. If he does not show something it might be his last oppurtunity.

I can see a possibility where neither Hack or Petty are on the roster come next year. Although Hack will need to pretty bad for that to happen.

Peterman is such a Mac kinda QB pick it's not even funny. He has a high football IQ and has some experience in a pro style offence and predicting to go late second or 3rd round. The writing is on the wall. I in fact could see him trading up from the 3rd to the top second to get him. I myself see alot of promise in Peterman and feel he is the sleeper QB of this draft class. But come on people look at Mac's two last QB picks...4th round and 2nd round... Peterman will fall right around there.

I like Peterman as much as Mahomes. The more I hear the more I think Macc won't be drafting a QB. That would be disturbing and means he is going all in with Hackenberg. Peterman has a pro offense background and could probably step in faster than Petty and Hack.

Gruden is living large on TV. He would have to be overwhelmed with a contract to leave that gig.

I actually agree with you, but everyone says Mac isn't going to drop Hack, and maybe even not Petty. But if he's truly open-minded and committed to only having the best on the roster, he needs to consider dropping both, although not before Hack is at least given a chance in TC and maybe preseason to show if he can be the guy.

You have to wonder, after what Gruden has put out there regarding Peterman's NFL qualifications to make his stock soar, he might not make it out of the 1st round. It wouldn't be crazy to think the Jets could package a deal to trade up from their 2nd to grab him.

Fair comparison but I think Peterrman is better at check downs than Ponder was coming out of college, Most compare Peterman to Kousins

Thanks for trying to fix that for me. But Petty is much further along than Hack and since Macc drafted both he has equal loyalty to them and let the competition begin in training camp. Hack is a basket case and has two things going against him, he has the dreaded 2nd round Jets curse and he sucks.

You have to look at it differently. Its competition. You never know where you'll find a good QB. One thing we know right now at this point our QB is a mess.

Stocks don't soar or drop, barring an arrest or some bizarre situation. Boards are set and info gets leaked to the draft experts who adjust their boards and then tell you so and so's stock is on the rise rather than admit they were way off on their ranking compared to what the teams think.

I just saw a mock for 2018 and the Jets fail to tank correctly and miss out on Darnold. But their consolation is UCLA QB Rosen.
