I'm ok to trade him That contract on a rebuilding team is dumb By the time we get better, Mo will be 47 years old
Because he's doing his job properly? GM's looking at next year when they have no chance at a ring should be fired on the spot.
If I'm Mac I try and extend Sheldon since his current value is at a low point and see what I can do to rid myself of Mo . Mo is supposed to be "the man" on the defensive side of the ball...a leader in the locker room. Yet all we get is subpar play on the field and poor examples being set for the younger guys by being late for meetings . This isn't a guy I want to build my team around moving forward.
I don't know that the Jets can extend Richardson at this point given his past behavior and his past statements about wanting a huge contract. I'd explore whether a relatively team-friendly contract was possible or not. Richardson is not going to get blown away by offers on the free agent market next year and his agents know that by now. 143 MPH, arrested with a child in the car is exactly the kind of behavior that limits future earning potential in the NFL right now. It's not quite up there with punching a woman in an elevator on camera but it is damn close.
As an actual friend of Mo Wilk.. I hate to say this... but I'm down to trade him. We're rebuilding.. at this point even his good years will only go to waste. We're just not ready as a team from a talent stand point to be paying superstar contracts. We can't do anything for him and he can only do but so much to help us win. Set my boy free!
I think Bowles usage of Richardson has pretty much guaranteed that there is no big contract on his horizon. That, and Sheldon's abject stupidity, of course. By the same token, keeping him on here is equally risky. If Macc gets a 2nd round pick out of any use of Sheldon, I would jump for joy.
Plus 100 thousand I am disgusted at both Mo and Richardson especially their attitudes and behaviors...even more fed up with Mac and his pretzel logic over the top contracts. Our GM created a mess with the Wilk deal and burdened the Jets with an awful contract that is limiting his trade value...simply put the guy is not as great as a JJ Watt in so many ways especially character and his 19 million per is a bit overpriced. So Mac creates this sh*tpile Mo Wilk deal and now is tryin to undo another mistake??????? (shades of Mevi$ deal) You once posted that $ aside you cant buy GREATNESS ...that comes from inside the player. Is Mo truly that type of player??? I seriously doubt it No disrespect to his fans but like the saying nothing personal just business....Do I think Mo makes a comeback ?? Who knows?? His attitude doesn't speak to that...he is busy pointing the finger at the Jet Training Staff for his poor recovery (With 86 million he couldn't help himself????...LMAO) Time to cut your losses with these two characters ...trade get what you can ...move on
I guess if The Jets suck down the road and Leonard Williams contract is up, we should let him go too!
That is a really risky deal. If Richardson has another incident then our once strongest position is our weakest. We will have only Big Cat to depend on.
So the team is not good enough to have good players? how will it ever be good enough to have good players if it is always deemed that the team is not good enough to have good players?
Its not that the team isn't good enough to have good players.. It's because we're rebuilding.. There's no point in paying guys huge contracts when winning isn't even the teams main goal at that point in time. Especially when we have two other studs that can play the same position. We're going to go into this season happy to get the best draft pick possible we all know we broke the team down and have no plans on contending anytime soon.. Why not just boost your rebuild by freeing up a shit load of money AND getting good draft picks in the process... that's rebuilding!
LOL! Nah! I wish! -- Mo is the only Jet I'm cool with.. Seen Calvin Pryor once at a basketball game in my area (no he's not good lol) but he didn't seem like he was in any kind of mood to talk to anybody there..
The team is not good enough to have prime-time high-priced players that will be going post-prime when the team is actually good.
3 years. In 3 years I can see this team being able to be good again if they find an answer at QB via the draft and continue to build a team around the QB. Mo, in the 1 Tech NT role will be 30 in 3 years. Think Williams Wall from the Vikings. 2 DTs inside. Pat Williams played until he was 38 years ago. Kevin Williams played with the Vikings until he was 33 years old. Now that's not to say Mo will be on the team in 3 years, get his value back up next year, let him dominate with Leonard and either trade / restructure the contract. The more holes you create, the more good players you let go the longer you potentially prolong the team being a good team. Mo despite the late meetings, still played better then Sheldon on 1 leg, and was a warrior out there. You guys are actually thinking he will sign a team friendly deal. Me thinks Sheldon got you fooled.
Mo's lofty stats were gone from the moment Macc let the best NT in football walk out the door. Now that Mo has to divert 50% of his attention to the middle of the field, he will never be as good a DE as he was when he could just unload on the QB every play and not worry about the run.
Free up money for what? so we can overpay someone elses free agent. The way the cap is set up you are going to have some high priced, midrange and cheap players throughout your roster and without having to pay a qb right now (unfortunate as that is) mo's contract is not hindering the team at all.
