Gotta envy teams like the Colts 2 QB's for 20+ years, we probably had 20+ QB's in that span

For what its worth, I always liked your namesake over Richard Todd.. Robinson was the better Qb but even back then the Jets were Qb blind.

1978 was one of my favorite years out of the 52 I've been a fan of this snake bitten franchise

to be fair, sanchez is a pro athlete, he shouldn't have needed a color code to know not to throw into triple coverage when we are up by 3 with 4 mins left. The good QBs don't do that shit and that's not on the coaches or the system. that's all on the QB and the scouting department

I disagree. ..when u see highlights of some of the great qb's they did throw passes into double and triple coverage. The took risks. Thats how they became great. Young qb's see that and try to emulate and realize its not easy.
By the time they figure out they cant do what the greats did...we call them busts and they are out of the league soon after.
So many wanted to be like Mike but only 1 or 2 have come close.

sometimes they get lucky with bad throws, but more often then not they don't. people seem to forget that as good as favre was, he also threw way too many picks. favre's play style wouldn't cut it in todays NFL. you don't see brady and rodgers doing that. peyton manning didn't do that.

I think its self inflicted. I just watch ESPN 30 for 30 Elway to Marino and I remember that day when they passed on Marino for Ken O'Brien. But they done it before with keeping Richard Todd over Matt Robinson. But the Jets had some horrible coaches and coordinators too so its probably 50/50.

Who knows about our present qb coach? Does he have a good resume for developing qb's or will we be attending more funerals this season?

is this a serious question? I mean why not just start threads like "Does Gravity Keep you on Earth?", "Do you Need Air to Breath?"

Had they had that first round pick, they would have drafted Favre, no dropping back. If anything, they may have traded up as I've posted an article in the past that confirmed that the Jets had Favre as the number 1 player in that draft. It's just like the Jets to not have a pick when their player evaluation is correct.

When we traded up to the 6th pick to draft a QB who had been in a West Coast Offense since high school, we put him in an "Air Coryell then whatever crap Sparano was running. The minute we pair him with a WCO coach, we stick him in the 4th quarter of a meaningless preseason game to get "killed" behind a porous o-line. Now we about it appears we are about to put Hackenberg in a WCO which I don't believe is a good fit for his skill set. The cycle continues.

As a franchise, the Colts may well be the most QB-lucky franchise of all time:

1956-1972 Johnny Unitas (with Earl Morral as a fill-in and backup to boot)
1973-1981 Bert Jones (Often overlooked, but clearly excellent)
1982-1997 was their worst stretch--and it included some of the best arm talent in history with Art Schlichter and Jeff George, but they were all nuts, including Jim Harbaugh. Even the fill-in guys for these headcases were decent: Mike Pagel, Chris Chandler, and Jack Trudeau
    1998-2010 Peyton Manning
2011- The Year of the Great Curtis Painter
    2012-Present Andrew Luck

Can any team match that? The Raiders used to have that kind of QB luck, but it feels like it left the building with Kenny Stabler, for the most part. The Dolphins had pretty solid run from their start right up until Marino retired, but it's been slim pickings since.

The Pats and Packers are both on nice long runs with back to back elite QBs, but so did the 49ers, back in the 80's and 90's.

to be fair to the colts. 2011 was still peyton manning. he just got hurt.
the niners going from montana to young was just ridiculous as well. same with the packers going from favre to rodgers. those 2 are probably more impressive then the bledsoe brady transition (which of course the jets helped along. thanks mo lewis) chargers were pretty lucky hitting on brees and rivers, but they never got the full benefit of brees due to drafting rivers and brees' injury.

all in all we aren't the only team with Qb struggles. most of the franchises have been struggling to find a QB and missed a lot in the draft.

I just read up in our qb coach. Good resume except for the fact he doesnt seem to last anywhere. Red flag...he has been out of the game for four years.

I do remember Bert Jones and in his prime he may be the greatest to ever play the game. I was a big fan of his.

Predicting QBs is not so easy and even when they start out good, they can go south very fast. The Patriots were clearly lucky with Brady, he was just suppose to be a backup for Bledsoe.

The Jets are now rebuilding and next year's draft looks possibly good for the QB position. This may not be what you want to hear now, but I think it is the reality at this time. I do hope the Jets can win the big one before Broadway Joe and I die.

They did almost kill Drew Bledsoe, and look where that got us.

look at the cowboys and raiders.
we need to develop and solidify the offensive line before drafting a franchise qb, otherwise he will be often injured.
that's what happened when namath was here. when buddy ryan was with the jets, he saw how the offense was designed.
his defense was, therefore, designed to take away the qb being able to sit safely in the pocket.
unless we nail down the oline FIRST, then talk of drafting a franchise qb is backwards.
