No one will fault you for that one. Wilson at the spot the Jets were was the BPA. He also fit a need at that time because I think Revis left.

wilson was a need because 3 months earlier peyton figured out we only had 1 cb and he didn't have to throw at him

Sorry, I didn't get back to You sooner. I hope You understand I do not dislike Fournette and if we draft him at #6, I wouldn't hate the pick. Fournette was impressive running a decent time at 240, but I do have concerns about his weight increasing once he's in the NFL. I don't believe Fournette can "do it all" as You mentioned. He is not a natural receiver, but that isn't what a team will draft him to do. He's a power back with good speed and an excellent blocker.

Cook is a very good receiver with excellent vision and cut back ability. Cook's liability is blocking, he is total uninterested in blocking. I'm not concerned about Cook's character.

I think both players will be drafted in the Top Ten, and have successful careers. I believe they will be drafted based on what a team wants in a RB. I just like Cook slightly better, there isn't a huge gap between Cook and Fournette in my ratings.

Aren't you concerned about Cook's poor blocking ability given the state of the OL? This is one big reason I would take Fournette over Cook, although I wouldn't cry if they got Cook.

I agree. People get caught up in these mock drafts and think a prospect is over drafted. If this guy is your guy you take him and then let the pundits complain.

I don't think Cook will go in the top 10 after his combine performance. His 3 cone time was 7.27 and his short shuttle was 4.53. For comparison, Garret Bolles had a 7.29 3 cone and a short shuttle of 4.55. His film should keep him drafted in the first round, but I don't think he will go top 10.

No problem, WW85. Thanks for the apology, but it wasn't necessary. I understand that you have a life and I'm sure you're busy watching videos of college prospects.

I think your point about Fournette's weight is an excellent one, and one I hadn't thought of. He's only five pounds heavier than his playing weight at LSU, but I was a little surprised that he showed up heavier at the Combine rather than lighter. It may be nothing, as he may have added 5 pounds of muscle to help him with the pounding he'll take in the NFL. It does bear watching however, as if he does have chronic ankle issues, the extra weight will be harder on him, and if anything, he might want to drop to 230 rather than playing at 240. Some RBs have had problems with weight, and not taking training/conditioning seriously, so that is a valid thought/question.

As to his not being a natural receiver, I'm not sure I agree with that, but would agree that he's perhaps not as good as Cook or McCaffery as a receiver. IMO he more than makes up for the difference with his superior running and blocking ability, and ability to break tackles. In the games I've seen him play and in the video, he seems to catch the ball very easily and well with his hands. It's not his fault that the LSU offense was rather primitive and didn't throw to the RBs much. I think he catches well enough that teams couldn't just focus on him as a runner. With his speed and power, if the Jets could hit him with a quick pass in the flat, he could go a long way on any given play. If Morton does institute a quick, short passing attack, Fournette could be productive both as a runner and receiver, even with the Jets' OL as it is. If they can sign a good FA LT and/or get Ramczyk or Bolles and upgrade the C position, Fournette could be devastatingly (to opposing teams) productive. I don't think Cook would have nearly the success here that Fournette would.

As always, thanks for your response. I always enjoy reading your thoughts and our discussions.

I agree, just get me Hooker, Howard or Foster and I will be extremely happy as a Jet fan. All 3 should be available at 6. No need to trade down, just take one of those 3 players and move on. No need to get cute. All 3 of those players have all pro potential. If the Jets don't get Hooker, he will be selected by the Chargers in the next pick IMO. Every mock I know ties those 2 together.

He's one of my favorites as well, and he will be gone by the time we pick.

I agree that he will probably be gone, but I'm hoping he drops. I really would love to have Adams! He's my favorite player/prospect in this draft, at least at this point of the process. My opinion is subject to change, of course.

He's a very special talent indeed, his impact on the field is Brian Dawkins like. 49ers and Bears to me are the key. Especially the Bears. I know a few Bears fans and to them it's Adams or bust, I told them they should take Jonathan Allen ;). Hopefully Jonathan Allen / A QB gets taken and Adams drops.

Hooker is Dee MIllener, Part Deux.

No DB can make a bigger impact on this Jets team more than a QB, RB, TE, or Pass Rusher, especially when there are other DBs that will be available later who can make an impact.
