Which is what he was drafted for, yet has never had the opportunity to do. We've always had to drop him off, so we honestly don't know what kind of player he could be if we took coverage out of his responsibilities and let him just lay the wood. I'd be happy to give him another year with our DEF if our secondary looked like this on Day 1 and truly see if he's a bust or not

I understand liking Lewis' talent and value in the 5th round. I'm not familiar with the incident with his girlfriend that you mentioned. Did he hit her, push her, or what? If he punched her and has undergone therapy, then he may not be worth the hassle either from fan protests or worrying about him screwing up again and getting suspended. With a young team, imo the Jets need to be very careful in considering player character.

Those Dolphin colors need to be removed from her immediately!

The investigation is ongoing, but apparently he grabbed her by the neck. No visible injuries and their statements differ. So possible he comes out unscathed and goes back into Round 1/2 territory if resolved before the draft

Thanks. The thing is, if he's exonerated, he probably learns nothing from the incident. While there are women who would cry "wolf" and make that claim, most would not. I would tend to think that he's guilty if she says he is. I'd be more willing to give him a chance if he admitted his guilt, was truly remorseful and underwent counseling.

The way the article reads, Lewis is considered to be a mid-round pick, period.. The incident doesn't appear to have hurt his draft stock, and it doesn't look like he was being considered a 1st or 2nd round pick, at least by the media.

It's also a Cimini article, so take that with a giant grain of salt. Most draftniks were touting him in Round 2, possibly late round 1 since he was considered to be the top nickel option CB in this draft
