I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying the confusion on this thread. It's a fine way to spend a Thursday. Thank you.
I'm looking forward to watching this team get younger and i'm willing to deal with what it's going to take to get there.
I agree with this. No lover of Cutler. But we ar egoing nowhere. Would not mind actually watching someone who can make throws. Fitz got our guys killed out there. McCown will too.
you missed last year's game then, when he coud not hit the broad side of a barn. totally inaccurate and ultimately useless. Totally Fitz-ian
If you have no interest in watching the kids develop than find something else to do on sundays. I plan on just getting the gamepass for 100 bucks and watching the games the next day in condensed mode so I don't waste an entire day watching a substandard excuse for what football should be.
Why would you want Cutler? At best he might win 7 games. Where does that put us? Right back in the middle of the draft. We need to be at the top and next year may be the season to be at the top of the draft. 2017 will be a wasted year (minus watching the development of the younger players). Just suck it up and prepare for 2018 and beyond. Hoping for a player like Cutler is ignoring the big picture. We have needed to strip this franchise down and rebuild it all back up again for a long time. We are now finally doing it, and doing it the correct way.
He must not have been serious, general sarcasm. But really he would have got us 6 wins instead of 3 and ate up a whole lot of cap space and been gone the year after. The bears know what he can do and they let him walk. If there was a positive to his place on the roster they would have attempted something you would think. Instead they chose to go with a guy who has little to know playing time the past 2 years. Says something.
I think there's a few factors that played into not signing Cutler. 1) He may have wanted more money than the Jets were willing to offer 2) I think Cutlers attitude is well noted around the league as being an issue sometimes 3) Macc seriously wants to evaluate Petty and/or Hack 4) Cutler may have won us more games which would prevent us from being in a position to draft Darnold or Rosen. If we start Hack or Petty and they suck then you kill two birds with 1 stone. You figure out what you have, and if it is not good you are in position to fix that in 2018. You sign cutler and you take away both 3rd and 4th options.
the LAST thing i want is another USC quarterback! name the last one who ever won anything in the nfl......
We have two young QB's that need playing time. IMO, the organization really wants to be correct in their selection of Hackenberg. Even if it's close, or remotely close to being close, I feel he will get the nod. Cutler would have thrown a bent monkey wrench into the reps mix and into the locker room. Personally I think there's probably more on the line for Petty than there is for Hackenberg, and fighting Cutler for a starting gig is way more difficult than fending off McCown. Pettenberg need to be 1 and 2 on the depth chart. Hopefully by the end of the 17-18 season they both show enough not to warrant a selection of a QB high in next years draft. If the Jets can trade down multiple times this draft and trade next years pick (assuming we receive a top 3 pick, if not the 1st overall) this team will be buzzing with young talent. I'd like to see at least 18-20 total picks gathered between this and next years draft, with half of those picks being Day 1 and 2 selections.
Oh I most certainly have more pin holes in my eyes from watching this team than a sieve, but that's what being a fan of this org will get ya. Having Cutler on this team would have made my eyes water.
