IMO there won't be enough body of work from OTAs and mini-camp to make any real determination. As you said, that would probably result in McCown starting which, imo, is NOT best for the team. We know what he is, and he would probably take less time to get ready than either Petty or Hack would. Thus, I don't think it best to make the decision before TC as to whom the starter will be. I think they need to use TC. Besides, I don't put much stock in anything that comes out of Cimini's mouth. He wasn't dubbed Ciminidiot for nothing.
I agree, but why wasn't this true at the end of this past season? What has happened to all of a sudden make Hack capable of competing for the starting job now? And if nothing happened, but in fact he WAS capable before, it simply more proof of how bad a job Bowles did.
Just remember if we would have a smart GM we could be talking of Dak & not Hack. MCC stupidity in not drafting Dak has set our team back some years IMHO
Hopefully Mac and Bowles are on the same page next season. Are we playing the young guys, or are we playing to win games at all costs. If Bowles is coaching for his job, he needs to put the players in that are most likely to win. Unfortunately, that could easily be McCown. If Mac and Bowles are both performing under the assumption that this is a growing year for young players, than Hack, and to a lesser extent Petty, needs to start.
The plan was always for Hack to work on his fundamentals during the offseason. It's the offseason now. It's pleasing that there aren't any excuses for him right now going into next season. The staff has kept to their word apparently.
Indeed. If he stinks, there will be no more ifs or buts. We'll play McCown and draft a QB at the top of the first next year. Provided we don't this year.
Yeah, I remember you talking up Prescott before the draft, you were all over Dak saying he was a sure fire star and any team that didn't draft him was in going to regret it. Wish the Jets would have listened to you.
You are obviously new to the world of Champ, this is one of his more level headed posts. If you look up crotchety old man in the dictionary there is a picture of Champ. He has this framed picture by his bed so he sees it every morning when he wakes and every night before he takes out his dentures and goes to sleep.
When I say "Kiss off the year", I'm not talking about W/L records - I fully expect them to lose a lot. But what I DON'T want is for them to piss away another year where they make no progress, and don't find any answers, and THAT is what I'm afraid will happen based on their track record so far.
Hopefully, that won't happen (where no progress happens). If it does there will be a LOT of us raising hell.
The quickest way to bury this question is to play McCown. He will be on IR by the second game. Nothing to be worried about. They need to be deciding right now whos the number 2 behind McCown as he will be starting game 2 or 3 if McCown starts.
