I was talking about the three remaining number 1 seeds, that made the sweet 16. I still think Gonzaga will lose before Kansas or Carolina.
b If Gonzaga loses to Xavier, they will be crucified. This is clearly their best opportunity ever to make the Final Four.
Turned into a track meet which suited KU's guards in transition. Bill Selfish blows. Other three games were great. The Zags (against a ferocious W. Va. all-court defense) showed some uncharacteristic left coast grit to their credit at the end. . Sure it is all other things being equal. Xavier winning more than fine by me since they're Big East. bunch of "dog ate my homework" fatheads......would love to see Butler somehow pull it off..
UNC with just too much size....Holtmann knew his team would be undersized, especially in the frontcourt, and he anticipated that the Tar Heels would run much of their offense through the post: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/24/sports/north-carolina-vs-butler-ncaa-march-madness.html
If Wisconsin could make a foul shot, they would have beaten Florida in OT. Hayes missed 6 foul shots in the last 2 minutes of OT. Wisconsin had a 3 point lead thru most of the OT period, but they couldn't stretch the lead. If Hayes had made only half of his free-throws, he could have stretched the lead to 5 or 6 points.
Caught the last few minutes of OT, sure if he hits a few more they probably close it out but that was a great 3 pointer to end the game. Don't follow college B ball much anymore so I am just pulling for who I still have in my Sportsbook picks. If Gonzaga pulls it out I am looking at $5500, Kentucky $8500 and Xavier $10800. Guess I am should hope for Kentucky to win it all so I can see all the wife's family going at it since half are Louisville fans and the other half UK. Fla and UNC are the only 2 I don't want to win it all.
that was brutal needed Wisconsin (did a CBB auction where you buy teams and Wisconsin was one of the teams I got) couldn't even watch game, I had to follow play by play on phone Hayes missing all those FTs and then the buzzer beater...
Xavier hit a 3/4 court shot to end the first half but upon review it was released less than a tenth of a second too late.
Xavier now holds sole possession of the dubious distinction of having the most NCAA tournament wins without having made a Final Four. 27. They had been tied with Gonzaga. Oregon just made their first Final Four since 1939. Yeah, that was the year Germany invaded Poland to launch World War II.
It's been a few years. Wooden and Olson dominated just about everything in the PAC for half a century. Part of success at any Oregon school is the fact that the other programs are having down years.
Florida/SC in a tight game. During the regular season, each team won at home. Rubber match at MSG for the right to go to the FF.
South Carolina beat Florida 77 - 70. How bout them Gamecocks !!! Kentucky vs North Carolina coming up next.
inside two minutes, UNC has the game in hand several late blown calls by the refs aided them, plus they allowed 6 seconds to come off the clock after a UNC made basket as the ball rolled around the court and they let the clock run.
