I'm not happy about it, but he was terrible last year and he'll be 38 when the season starts, so it's not like he's gonna play us out of position to get our guy in 2018 (knock on wood). Could be a good mentor for Hack and Petty.
So now we have McClown on the roster to help Petty and Hack mature. Why do I see a trainwreck in the making.... It would be our luck that McClown will actually win too many games and once again, we get screwed out of a chance at a FQB.
Most of your post suggests that it is a good signing so why aren't you happy about it? This move guarantees the Jets will be allowing their young players to play which I only see as a positive.
We should all be happy about this. For once, the Jet organization is taking the right path. They could have very easily given a boat load of $$ to Cutler and compromised the future of the team. I mean they can still screw things up, but so far, so good.
I don't see a "train wreck". I do see us losing games next season which I'm sure you see as well. Ideally, McCown will play 3-4 games to start the season and then be done. Hack should get at least 8 starts this season and I think this signing lends itself very well to that plan.
You're assuming TB doesn't go into survival mode and plays McClown all season because....."he gives us the best chance to win".
Even if he does McCown does not have the innate ability to be somewhat durable like Fitz. He always seems to find a way to get injured when overplayed.
I'm not happy about it because if he starts it precludes us from seeing Petty or Hack. There's also the very slim possibility he has a career season like Fitz in 2015 and we win 6 games and end up with the 9th pick.
Well I was hoping for this guy or Hoyer so works for me. This guy will really give the young guys more opportunities to show their worth.
Mcown is another guy that's never brought a team anywhere....He is a downgrade from Fitzpatrick. Our starter for 2017 isn't on the roster yet...If we draft a QB in round 1 I would expect Petty to be cut.
