Between Saban, Stump (RB coach) and Kevin Greene the young guys would probably be terrified into a winning culture. haha

I did that B4 last years draft & look what we wound up with Hack over Dak. The owner of the NYJs should have fired MCC as soon as it became apparent that MCC blew the Dak pick

I guess every team that had a pick in the first three rounds should fire their GM too?

First off who cares about other teams? In fact the stupider the others GM are the better for us but since we hired dunces like MCC is the reason we have a non winning SB team since 1969:mad:

So fire our GM for doing the same thing every other GM did? Makes sense.

I still 100% believe in Hackenberg. Just was watching Penn State tape and the 4th Preseason game from last year. The talent is definitely there. The frame is there. He is intelligent and like I have pointed out before: only 22. I don't like guaranteeing things, but I am fairly confident he will succeed in the NFL eventually. The Jets may give up and cut him, then he will play great on another franchise. Logically, he will end up being a solid NFL QB.

I really hope the FO sees the same potential. If Hack is the real deal I would like to personally insert the foot of half of this board squarely down their throats.

You may well be right in your assessment, and most Jets fans would be thrilled if that were true, but the problem is that most of us need to see some recent, pro-level evidence to support it. This isn't the Pats, Packers, Steelers, Broncos, Cowboys who have enjoyed lots of success so that we have patience and a belief in management. Yeah, we might over-react and force them to cut Hackenberg before his time, but that's just the nature of a fan base that has waited for almost half a century for success.

He had better show something right away to justify his being picked, or his time will pass him by. I'm not saying it's right, just saying it's reality.

I don't know if this has ever been mentioned, but I wonder if Hack has the problem that has been seen with baseball players over the years: the sudden loss, psychologically, of being able to throw accurately. I think there's a name for it, but I'm not sure.

It happened in NY with Steve Sax on the Yankees, and with other players in MLB..... Steve Blass the Pitcher comes to mind.

Otherwise I tend to agree with you. That TD he threw in the pre-season was a thing of beauty...perfect touch, on the dime, at a tough angle. He's got the goods. We'll see.

The little bit I saw of Hackenberg in preseason, he looked terrified. Not a good sign.

Hack went through so much crap in college, it's amazing he stuck around. I respect that cause if things don't go well right away, he'll stick around and fight through it. I give him plenty of points for staying when there was barely any talent and they forced him to play a way that would ultimately make him regress. If we can get him back to where he was, he's going to be a very good QB in this league and our starter. Strong arm, quick release, can go through progressions. Just need to restore his mechanics and confidence.

Yeah, hopefully he takes a big jump in 2017 and a bigger one in 2018. Time will tell.
It is definitely possible he lost his confidence or something similar to that. Hopefully it can be built back up (though we know the current Jets might not be the best place for that to happen) But yes he checks so many boxes that you would want for a Franchise QB. If accuracy is the #1 issue, you would assume he can improve on that year to year. Time will tell.
Not to defend him too much, but he was 4th on the depth chart. That leads to very little practice snaps. In retrospect, it was terrible the Jets kept 4 QB on the roster. Live and learn I guess.
    Agreed 100%.

As much as hack looked terrible in preseason he looked no worse than the number 1 overall pick from what I saw.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hack has what it takes. The kid is young and very gifted. Just gotta put the pieces together

Some of the fan base believe in Hack the problem is the Jets don't seem to have any confidence in him and they see him every day. That leaves two possibilities

    1. Jets are right, he sucks. They took a flier on him and it didn't work out
    Or
    2. Jets are wrong and he's ready to play. Which means the team doesn't know what they're doing

    OR

    3. He may be a game day player and not a training ground show pony. Seen other teams leave players rotting on the bench until a chance comes there way and they show what they can do on Game day.

Can he not still be learning? He's spent one year in the league. Jesus.

Jets brass even said they weren't gonna work on changing his mechanics until this current offseason which for them begins in April.
