It was good. Especially the 14" dick in the ass analogy...lol. If he plays well, after a while they'll pick up on it when some asshole like Mehta says so in an article after it becomes popular opinion.
Seems like a solid signing. I wanted him last year. The most important part is he's a proven NFL tackle even if he's not an All-Pro. We need experience along the line if we're going with the youth movement everywhere else. He's definitely talented. Bottles also holds onto the ball forever so I'm not that discouraged about a dip in play last year coming off an injury. Bleacher Report wrote this:
He was a top 5 LT before the knee injury. Last season he was still dealing with it, if he returns to form, we are in much better shape on the O line then we were this morning.
I disagree. Beachum was signed to start at LT. Ijalana was signed as the backup LT and as insurance in case the Jets didn't get Beachum. I suppose Ijalana could start at RT but I imagine that Shell and Qvale will be the primary RTs, and Ijalana will move there only if both falter badly.
No, it doesn't Both Beachum and Ijalana are LTs. Beachum will start and Ijalana is his backup. Shell and Qvale are RTs. Ijalana will only move over to RT if both Shell and Qvale struggle.
Not quite, but if Beachum had signed with another team, we would have been. The Jets weren't the only team needing an LT.
I like the pickup.... Interesting contract that the Jags had with him, basically had the choice to keep him long term if they thought they had a quicker window to be competitive. Line is looking better, just need some continuity to actually make it worth something.
I disagree. Ijalana is a much better RT than LT. Particularly much better than Qvale at RT. He was moved to LT because he's the guy they trusted most to handle that position at that point, he simply wasn't good enough though. I don't blame the CS for that, Shell almost got Petty killed in preseason/was clearly not ready for that role and Qvale is a career backup at RT. Ijalana is a pretty solid RT and got the nod because the CS liked him better than the other options.
While he does lack some punch in running game, he's pretty refined pass protector, it looks to me. P.S. I thought giving up 2 sacks/game was pretty bad for a protection, until I looked up last year's performances overall. 34 actually ranks a spot above mediocrity. [15] Consider that Cheating Tom was still sacked 24 times. Protecting Bortles for 34 sacks is no easy feat. At least it looks like the protection is going to be up. [And in the worst case - I don't know if this will happen, but Mangold might return too.] Now, if Jets QBs start to learn how to play like a NFL starting QB... Ugh.
Jet fans could win the lottery yet bitch about the taxes they took...we needed bigtime help along the O line and we signed a very solid younger player. What's not to like about this.
I never said the guy was awful but there's a reason he's been on 3 teams in 3 years.Find me another great player that's been on 3 different teams in 3 years. He hasn't been the same since his injury. It won't matter anyway with Jay Cutler and Bryce Petty at QB.
It's been 1 year since his injury. To say that he hasn't been the same since his injury is ridiculous. Unless you're last name is Peterson you're not playing at 100% the year after an injury like that. He was playing like an all pro before his injury. He was the best available LT and we needed an LT. What were the options?
Profootballfocus had him ranked 63rd out of 73 left tackles last year .He played in 15 games and gave up 49 QB hits.......What were you saying?
Man, you PFF guys kill me. Lemmings. That's lazy research if you ask me. You like PFF? Read this. https://www.profootballfocus.com/secret-superstars-pittsburgh-steelers/
I think it's similar to Clady, the potential is there if he can stay healthy, you know yourself, LT are like rare gems, once you find it you do everything you can to keep it and he has moved around 3 times already. I'm happy with the signing, but I would have preferred Ramczyck in the draft. I believe the jets will select a CB with their 6th pick, they have not been able to sign one in FA, it is a need. So far the plan is coming together for Mac, I like what they are doing. Oline is set, depth at LB and special teams is set, they need a CB, TE, WR.
From PFF pre injury "Going into the final year of his rookie deal, Beachum has without question outplayed his draft selection and become one of the best young tackles in the league. The Steelers were fortunate enough to find this diamond in the rough and though they’ve been up against the cap in recent seasons, extending Beachum either this offseason or next should be a top priority." Then he got hurt, one year to recover.
Still haven't found numbers posted anywhere on the web. Anyone find anything? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
