Lots of NYR breakaways, nice backhander by Hayes, and last night overall provided an interesting reminder of what it used to look (and sound like) when the Rangers played in their "home" whites. From the Sun-Sentinel: Sprinkle in the continued dominance of goalie Henrik Lundqvist and it added up to another deflating 5-2 home loss Tuesday evening at a BB&T Center packed with raucous blue-shirted New Yorkers. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/florida-panthers/fl-sp-panthers-rangers-20170307-story.html How many people in South Florida actually care about the Panthers? About the only thing more futile would be the odd out-of-state loser following this collection of stiffs. . I mean when you're pinning ticket sales on a 45 year old former superstar.... .
This win was a breeze by the Rangers. Florida has been terrible at home lately and their defense is a shell of themselves from last year. Only two defenders from last year's playoff team are currently on the roster. Of course the Rangers got breakaways, the Panthers defense is a joke. As a Ranger fan I would be more concerned about beating teams that have structure, especially one without an interim HC. Rangers have constant lapses defensively (45 shots to the bunch of stiffs that play for Florida) and have guys disappearing for long stretches at a time (Stepan, Grabner)
MSG has just raised my season ticket prices by another 17% for next year. A 76 dollar ticket will be $89 next year.
Raanta screwed on a non goalie interference call that looked to be reviewed by the refs on an iPhone-sized screen. Third game in 4 nights didn't help either - Rangers looked like they were skating in sand to start the 3rd. Derek Stepan with 10 shots on goal - no shots in goal. "Beat you to it?" . "Almost went up as your pic last night?" "Such a ride?" . What are you even talking about? .
Why do they have fuckin replay for Joe, always fuckin wrong, Geez, elbow the goalie in the head on the game winning save...fuckin morons!
Agreed Matt. The first two replays I honestly didn't see any contact but when they showed it from the 3rd angle you could clearly see Elias Lindholm hitting Raanta with an elbow. And this while Raanta was in the crease. Edit: the kicker was the refs claiming that Raanta was the one who initiated contact.
Here's his career faceoff percentages: 38.5% 44.5% 45.9% 45.2% 44.5% 46.6% 47.1% (this season) Basically, this is his best season ever! Dude is God awful at playing center.
And that's the guy we send out on our most important faceoffs. "Five seconds left, Rangers need to win the faceoff and get a shot off! And Stepan loses the draw and the puck is cleared."
