Yes your right let's keep giving up 80 yard TD passes every week....This is why Idzik has a desk in a broom closet in Jacksonville ...
Just to reiterate on this topic. If he was given a contract like this it would make him the 3rd or 4th highest paid edge rusher in the NFL. I would expect to pay more for a FA acquisition coming off of a good year, but this is too steep and the timing isn't right for this kind of move.
Pace was a very good all around Linebacker. We get caught up in the lack of "Gaudy" sack numbers from him..but he did alot of good things for this team that didn't show up in the box score. Still his contract was mighty hefty. I don't think Perry is a better player than Pace..but I do think he's a better pass rusher. Even w. his sack numbers..the rest of his stats likely don't land him the kind of payday Pace did..and if that's what his asking price is..the Jets should pass. But on a reasonable deal he is not a bad piece to go along w. Mauldin & Jenkins. If they were to re-up Martin..all of a sudden that's a decent unit.
why dont the packers resign a guy who has 11 sacks the past season for them , and plays trough a broken hand makes no sense.
Why didn't they resign the guy who led the league in interceptions last year? The same reason they're letting Hyde go. They're fucking stupid with the salary cap.
THANK YOU. Obvious they rushed his return from a very serious injury. Mo will be fine next season. All-pros with years of top of the line production don't just drop off like that.
Well....they don't really use an "algorithm" per se. They actually do a pretty good job though. They grade every single play of an individual's game from -2 to +2 based on how they performed on that given play. It does a great job of grading individual performance. They also have a ton of signature stats that show play beyond your basic statistics. Corners, for example, get a completion % against, QB rating against, % targeted, etc. I have no problem when people use PFF, but it definitely isn't the be all, end all. Darron Lee was about as good as anyone should expect him to be as a rookie playing horribly out of position and learning on the fly. Jenkins was great and should be a longtime starter for us. Idk if he'll ever be a top tier player, but he can certainly be a consistently productive starter. Burris has a chance to be a solid player too and Hackenberg is a wait and see. Brandon Shell could end up being our RT of the future but I guess we'll see. Gotta include Anderson who was a nice find as well. I don't think Mac has done a bad job at all.
Perry was a one-trick pony last year. 11 sacks in 14 games with only 35 tackles. That's not a major addition to the defense. It's adding a situational pass rusher who is not going to have Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews drawing attention away from him on the other side. He may be a decent OLB at this point but there's no way to project him as a 3 down starter, given that all he did last year was rush the QB. Calvin Pace had 80 tackles for the 2007 Cardinals before hitting free agency. He was the 2nd leading tackler on the team. Perry was the 4th leading tackler among the LB's for the Packers last year.
They are actually masterful w. the cap b.c 9 times out of 10..they feel no ramifications w. who they let pass through in FA. Why is that? They draft extremely well...especially on Offense.
Well so much for that! We let all those big names go for cap room & literally NO ONE wants to come here. We won't even get to late April & fans will be flying all sorts of front office restructuring request banners in Woody's direction. These guys have done NOTHING to change this JOKE of a culture & cesspool of below average talent! Oh football savior whoever you are..please come to Florham Park.Please..
Jets have struck out on everything and anything in free agency thus far. We are in for a rough season but I think its better this way. The false or half baked rebuilds have left this franchise in dire straights. Knock it all down and build it back up because right now we aren't competing for the playoffs let a lot a superbowl.
Alternatively, the Jets can put on a new hat by not giving A level contracts to B level players and focusing on the draft as the primary source of talent infusion. Free agency for a team as bad as the Jets is about plugging holes, not building a winner. The Jets should be giving out only short value proposition contracts to mid tier players looking for opportunities to prove themselves and potentially overachieve. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
We don't know that they have struck out on anything. These reporters need to make $ and they do that by writing articles based on speculation. Maybe Perry's name was mentioned by passers-by in a hallway and they needed a story, as soon as one writes it the rest of them follow suit. Who know if they are in negotiations with guys as we speak. We wanted a FO that kept things quiet and that's what we got, rather have Rex and Tanny that spilled beans in waterfalls?
I agree, but I don't think the hush-hush quietness of Macc and Bowles applies to free agent negotiations. From what I can see, Jets were in on Nick Perry and were essentially used as leverage so the Packers could give him a big deal. I'm not saying it as a bad thing that we've struck out on everyone and anything. To me it means Macc has a hard number that he won't move off of, regardless of what the player is. He moved away from that ideology last offseason and it bit him in the ass multiple times. We aren't winning more than 4 or 5 games in 2017, so not overspending on free agents is fine by me. Plus, in all reality there are very few beat writers or NFL reporters I trust regarding contract rumors (Adam Schefter and Ian Rappaport) being the two main people that are most trustworthy.
JC, there's a bunch of dingbats in this thread. I wonder if all of you will be so arrogant and smug when eventually Lee is traded or cut and Jet fans are coming to the rationale that Lee was a bust? It was already on full display in his rookie season that his size a advertised during the draft is a crock of shit. 232 pounds? I don't think so. He actually played at about 215 all season. it was so blatantly obvious in his play, he got annihilated by every lead lineman he ever attempted to engage. He will need to put on 20 pounds of muscle or more to be anything more than a little twerp masquerading around as a linebacker. You all talk shit about PFF, but there's one thing you cannot refute because it is FACT. Any QB had a QB rating of 132.9 when passing to Lee's assignment in the passing game. Minnie Mouse doesn't even turn his head. How many TD's did he allow? Bottom line is him playing inside is a complete waste of time. He sucks at it. He's got ONE more shot at playing linebacker and that is on the outside. If he doesn't prove himself this season, he'll be relegated to Safety, which is really where he should have been put anyway. Either way Darron Lee is not a linebacker. He gets tossed aside like dirty laundry.
Dude...give it a rest. We get it..you hate Lee & everything about him.Every thread you post in reduces to this same argument. If he really is so bad...time will tell. But you can't expect everyone else to join you in hating the guy when in reality we've seen MUCH worse rookie campaigns from high draft picks. I sense that deep down you're just a pissed off fan...but the act has gotten extremely stale...and borders on obsessive. I find myself fighting having to put you on ignore...I won't speak for others but I'm sure that sentiment is not uncharted territory.
