Because trying to acquire someone who would either be the best, or 2nd best QB in the history of our franchise is bad idea? Being close-minded to this prospect is far worse than any support given to it.
This is what happens when you draft QB's two years in a row but think your better option is to start one of the worst QB's in the league rather than start them.
I don't think the NY Media was all that bad, he's got some tough skin. Could've went about things differently. Geno has to gauge his interest in the FA market, I would sign him for a year if there weren't many fillers.
The good news is that if true, we avoid more poor to mediocre QBing. I don't see any bad news out of this. The hopeful part of me is rooting for Macc having the balls to draft his FQB, and go into TC with Petty, Hack, and Rookie. If Macc doesn't believe in his ability to identify QB talent enough to go "all in" with three guys he picked, then why in the hell should we have ANY faith in him doing a good job? We need to find out about the QBs and we need to find out about Macc and Bowles once and for all. And if that fails, then we'll probably have "earned" a top 3 pick in 2018, and we'll also be getting a new GM and HC to go with that. So where's the down side?
Drafting a QB makes zero sense when you have a 3rd year QB and a 2nd year QB on your roster. Especially when the 2nd year guy was the #1 HS recruit coming out and hasn't even been given a chance to prove himself. To me if we draft a QB before giving Hack a legitimate shot and have now thrown away a top of the 2nd round pick with no due process... Mac has to go, and I'm not in the camp of hating Mac but this is nothing short of incompetence.
So if I am hearing this correctly, you would pass on the guy that beat Alabama in this years National Championship and almost beat them in last years National Championship?
Looks like so do the GM's around the league as the vets are getting signed .. I can see all the QB's but maybe 1 fall to day 2+
I agree .. and hope they avoid using the 1st rd pick on a QB .. I hope they trade down and avoid using the 6th pick all together. Let Hack play .. draft a QB late. Tank and Bank!!!
Be hella cheap too. The only other QB that looks to be available is McCown, who I would rather sign as he'll probably wouldn't mind holding onto a clipboard if Hack beats him. Don't wanna pay money for a Romo or Cutler.
Only a Jets fan would say 'I don't want a 5000 yard passer in his mid 20s', when we have absolutely no QB in sight.
