I would disagree. Hover would be brought in to compete for the starting job.

It us not a sure thing that both Petty and Hack make the roster. It woukd not be suprising to see either get cut. Unless Petty or Hack miraculous improve Hoyer will win the starting job until we lose to many games then Hack, Petty or a rookie will get or share the rest of the season.

Well, he may be looking for that, but what team in their right mind would sign him and declare him the day one starter? No fuggin way. He is an in the mix guy. His chance to lead a team was forever lost in that Texans playoff blowout where he was 15/34 for 136 yards and 4 interceptions.

I get the frustration, but I really think the Jets are going with the better of Petty/Hack and the guy they bring in will be a safety.

No way. I would be absolutely floored if Bowles cuts either Petty or Hack.

But you don't know that's going to happen. They may have to promise him playing time to get him to sign. Unless I see it as an actual fact that he's going to have to compete for the job with no guarantees I'll reserve judgment.

Bills are reportedly interested in Hoyer too! Who would have thought he was the QB being chased?

Hoyer might be brought in to compete, but there's absolutely no way in hell that either Petty or Hack are getting cut. That's just nuts! It would be TOTALLY surprising.

If they have to guarantee any of the vets playing time to get them to sign here, then they shouldn't sign them. IMO it's just that simple. If they don't have enough confidence to come in and compete, then we don't need them. Mac should be about building the team, developing talent, and finding the best QB he can, not satisfying some JAG vet's insecurity issues.

No. What would be the point in signing him? He will be horribly expensive and isn't a FQB. He's mediocre. His best two qualities are that he doesn't throw many interceptions and that he's accurate on long passes. The Jets aren't ready to compete, but even if they were, he's not the QB to lead them to glory.

If the Jets want a stopgap QB, you wait it out for Tyrod. He's a top 16 starter in the league that will help improve the run game and he's also adept at throwing the deep ball which should serve well to Robby Anderson and Devin Smith if he's healthy. Signing Hoyer to potentially start would be incredibly stupid.

Why am I not surprised that you'd be stupid enough to want him?

I do, believe me, I do (consider you stupid).

There is no rational reason for signing Romo. He couldn't stay healthy behind Dallas' OL. He wouldn't stay healthy here for 5 minutes. The Jets are rebuilding in case you didn't notice. They haven't cut most of their older vets to bring in an ancient QB who can't stay healthy and who would cost a lot of money. The Jets are not a playoff team and wouldn't be even if Romo did come here and somehow manage to stay healthy. They have too many holes.

Further, why would he want to play here? There is no compelling reason.

the funny thing is that I'm not even the biggest Romosexual out there but hell if NC is so strongly against it, now I would like to see us pursue him a little more. like a stamp of (dis)approval haha

If Romo chooses to sign with Denver, do they put Siemian on the block or opt to keep three QB's on the roster? I'm not a betting man, but if I was, my money is on the latter....
