How the heck do we only have 33 million in cap space?

every other team tries to isolate him on a RB, and, surprise, they get the first down.

we were 7 mil in the hole to start the offseason before the cuts were maid.
We also have 13.5 mil in dead money.
so without that dead money and the hole we were in we would be around 50 this year. on top of that, we do have like 75+ mil for next season curently. basically we gave bad contracts in an effort to gear up after rex and idzik were fired 2 years ago and it didn't pan out. Also good teams tend to have really good players on rookie deals. we don't have that either due to bad drafting. only williams.

If the Jets are looking in free agency to replace Harris, Kevin Minter will probably be the top target.

I don't want to spend the money just for the sake of spending it. If there are young players who can fill holes/needs, and/or upgrade depth and improve competition, then I'm all for signing them to reasonable contracts. If not, then carry the money over to next year.

I do think we absolutely need to sign an LT, probably a TE, probably depth for OG, probably a CB or two, and maybe a C, ILB, RT, or FB.

i think the best way to replace him is to switch to a 4-3.

If they switch to a 4-3, the Jets will still have to find a MLB.

Add another $2-$6M when Revis gets signed somewhere else

Lee is better suited for the 4-3 then the 3-4. he has a very "vilma" like build and skill set
we still have mouldon and jenkins outside, we could if we wanted keep richardson and play him and wilk at DE with williams and mclendon at DT.
our front would be set, and even if not we could trade richardson , keep williams outside and use another DT inside.

I don't think he's a MLB in a 4-3. His best position is probably at WLB.

I think Lee would play WLB in a 4-3, while Jenkins could play SLB.

And OMG do we really want to be in a competition against the Browns, Niners and Jags right now?

    Think about it.

Bad teams spend like drunken sailors in free agency to maybe get ok for a year and then be bad again.

Agreed, and with Idzik running things in Jax, its Fleet Week and there are 10 hookers for every 100 sailors.

The best thing the Jets can do is let things settle then bring in veterans for depth and to fill slots so Mac can focus on the best player available who is not a D lineman.

Dave Caldwell is the GM in Jacksonville. Idzik is doing cap work I believe. Could be wrong. No idea what direction Khan will go if he decides to make a change at GM. He has been very patient as a novice owner in the NFL - trying to do things right and trusting his football people to get things done. Not sure where he is at now with the Jaguars sitting at the end of a run of top 5 picks and still terrible.

Fifty minutes until John Idzik Time at #Jaguars offices. "Free agency there is really John's baby," league source says.

I know, he does the contracts... He doesnt make the player decisions.

too small. he's a smaller sideline to sideline LBers but he can't fight off blocks. he's best in a 4-3. just like vilma was for us. going to a 3-4 is why we traded him and drafted harris who was better suited fr the 3-4 defense.
