Here's every prospect the Jets have met with at the combine so far Here is a list of players the Jets have met, or are scheduled to meet with, so far, according to NJ.com. North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky Clemson QB Deshaun Watson Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs Florida State RB Dalvin Cook Miami OG Danny Isidora Western Kentucky OT Forrest Lamp USC OG Damien Mama Illinois State OG Cameron Lee Kutztown OT Jordan Morgan William & Mary OT Jerry Ugokwe Indiana OG Dan Feeney Ohio State C Pat Elflein TCU OT Aviante Collins Florida OT David Sharpe Utah C J.J. Dielman Oregon TE Pharaoh Brown South Alabama TE Gerald Everett Clemson TE Jordan Leggett Washington TE Darrell Daniels Alabama TE O.J. Howard Arkansas TE Jeremy Sprinkle Louisiana State WR Malachi Dupre
Combine starts with offensive players. Defensive players start later. The only think we know so far is that RB and WR do not seem to be high on his agenda.
Thanks for the heads up. I almost exploded. And I don't think RB/WR would be high on the list either. Forte/Powell look serviceable for next year at least.
The Jets are going to need some depth behind Forte and Powell. It's 50/50 both of them miss some games next year and probably 25% they both miss the same game at some point. Powell has only been available for 16 games twice in his career including last year and Forte has missed 3 games each of the last two seasons.
I hope they stay away from Kizer, reports are that he was behind on all his passes, accuracy was abysmal.
They can poach a PS player to address the depth part, or select a RB later in draft, or select Cook with the 6th pick and Powel becomes the 3rd RB on depth chart. I wouldn't be in favor of the later option though.
I hope we stay away from the QBs in this draft. I think Watkins is the best of the bunch. Even though he will take time to develop, whoever takes Davis Webb could be getting a steal.
This list doesn't mean they are shying away from certain positions. They may want to see all the RB's at their pro days or invite them to Florham Park, for example.
We'll have a much better idea what the Jets are leaning towards in the Draft after FA begins. Right now, the Jets are the very worst team in the league by a mile. They have needs everywhere except for DL. Regardless, of hat Mac does in FA and the draft it's looking like the Jets will be competing with the Browns for the number 1 pick in 2018.
Yep The team has regressed under this management and coaching after a lucky start (10-6) Actually I hope it plays out that way and we have the nub 1pick...I will feel better already Even a rookie GM cant blow a frst t round pick on a quality QB darnold /Rosen in 2018...LMAO In the dumbass decision department Bowles has outdone Mac but not by much MM is adopting the right philos this draft but I am waiting on those decisions..(fingers crossed) jmho
I truly hope you're right about Mac adopting the right philosophy? I hate the idea of having to blow this thing up only 3 years after 2014? Now, I am resigned to Toilet being gone. I saw more than enough of him to know he is NOT a good HC and I don't believe he ever will be. However, although I am sharply critical of Mac, I can see why so many think he should stay? But if he does, his drafting must improve in a big way as far as I am concerned? What I find to be the most tell tale sign that we have a bad GM is the linebacker thing? Mac has acquired 2 linebackers in FA and has drafted 3 linebackers through the draft. After all that, the Jets SHOULD have an overhauled linebacker corp. They should have a finished product? Instead, they have the HC playing a DL as a stand up linebacker? They have a guy that is a prototypical 4-3 linebacker playing in a hybrid 3-4. That's a classic square peg in round hole situation the way I see it and the results have pretty much backed that up so far. All their other linebackers either can't stay off the injured list or are simply not good enough to get any extensive playing time? That to me is his most egregious failure as the GM. Now, I could go into the whole QB thing and how we still have no solutions at QB. I could go there, but I don't think it is necessary?
