No reason not to stand pat with the young personnel we have on the Roster. 2017 is NOT a playoff contending year for the Jets.
At the same time, if we are having a throw away season, why not take a shot on him and see if he holds up? He probably won't and I don't feel strongly one way or the other but it wouldn't be the craziest thing. If he gets suspended AGAIN, then we just lose that many more games to ensure a shot at Darnold
Sure why not. Nothing to lose and if by some miracle he cleans up we have a cheap upgrade to Marshall.
Something about the NY nite life that corrupts the weak minded. Some can handle it, some can't.. If Gordon couldn't handle Cleveland, there's no way in hell he'll handle the Tri-state.
The rookies we have are all raw with there talents. After cutting Marshall yesterday, Gordon would be perfect for this team. A contract for him that can be voided with any future issues makes it simple. Not to mention, whoever is the QB for this team will need someone reliable that can catch the ball
This history shows how the NFL disciplinary system is out of whack. Most if not all the NFL incidents were for smoking pot and drinking. That warrants suspensions for entire seasons??? Meanwhile PEDs get you a couple of games. Or beating people up. Or cheating on the field by playing with illegal footballs. Gordon is persona non grata for smoking a few joints??? What's to really lose by taking a chance on a talent like this?
Just curious, is Gordon still under contract with Cleveland and would the Brown's be due any compensation from a team signing Gordon?
Everything I read says he is still a Brown. It is quite possible that he may be released once he gets reinstated, but he is currently their property. Also, so you really think that the best offer Josh Gordon will get is one from one of the worst teams in the NFL with terrible QB play (last year) on a contract that pays him minimum and where he can be cut with no money owed if he messes up? That's the best he will be able to do?
A guy like Gordon needs a team with a strong veteran presence and a no nonsense coach who isn't going to put up with shit...So not the Jets. On a team looking to get younger there's no way I want him around influencing our young talent. Randy Moss 2.0 as a NE Patriot would be my guess.
DUI. The DUI took his profile to a whole new level. You're right that the Drug Policy in general is not quite up to the times and probably should be a lot less penalizing for Marijuana, however driving under the influence is serious business. Gordon got 2 games for the pre-DUI incident, including the fact that he had the history in college. After the DUI the NFL got serious.
I don't think he's going to the Pats. I don't think that Belichik likes having players around that are not controllable and Gordon is not controllable. The reason Belichik got rid of Moss was he felt that he had no control over his actions and didn't want to get bit by something at the wrong time.
