Any chance the jets take a chance at him? We don't seem to have issues with "problem" players. He is trying to get back in the NFL and should be really cheap and we can make a clause that says if he gets suspended it voids his contract and all future money. You can't deny his talent. he is a top 10 WR when he plays. and he's still young at 25 years old. as a rookie he caught 50 balls for 800 yards and in year 2 87 catches for 1650 yards. on the browns with no QB. he would be an instant upgrade in our offense. we can cut marshall (which will probably happen regardless) and he slides right into the WR1 spot opposite decker. with enunwa and anderson rounding out the top 4. Seems perfect as we are a team rebuilding and looking to cut cost and he is a player looking to rebuild his career and value. and it's low risk. if it doesn't work out we aren't winning anything this year anyway and he can be released at no cap penalty. and if it does work out, we get a stud young WR
I like the way Josh Gordon plays. However, WR is actually Turing into a strength for this team. I don't see the Jets taking a chance on him.
Manziel and Gordon into the cage, each with a baseball bat. Survivor gets camp invite. If neither survive, Jets receive special humanitarian award and automatic playoff spot.
If the price is right and they end up cutting Marshall, then sure. Otherwise I'd rather see the young WRs that are already on the roster develop. He's a good player, but he's gotta be one of the dumbest mofuckas in history. The Jets need less Richardson type players.
yeah but a cheap 25 YO WR that can put up 1500 yards is worth the gamble. He is a top 10 WR in the NFL at worst and could be top 5 if he wasn't an idiot. IMO the top 5 right now are (in order) Brown, Julio, ODB, Green, hopkins I could see gordon passing hopkins for sure
this is now the 12th thread about josh gordon's chance of coming to the jets in 3 years. how does this keep happening?
The Jets need to ignore the Pats and just build the Jets to be as good as they can be. If Gordon signs there, well that'll probably be a great combo for a year or two until Brady goes but that's not something the Jets can worry about and they certainly cannot play defense with their roster. Playing defense just lets Belichik manipulate and cause problems for us.
Well, if the Jets do sign Gordon it will be one of those "uuuuuuuhhhhhh" Lurch moments from the Addams Family. I really have to go back and watch that show because so much of it went over my head when I watched it as a kid. I'm betting it is twice as hysterical now as it was from a kid's perspective in 1973. Gordon was suspended indefinitely by Baylor head coach Art Briles in July 2011 for a violation of team policy on drug use. He transferred to Utah (because Mormons don't drug test? Because there are no drugs in Utah? Because... uuuuuuuhhhhhh) and sat out 2011. Applied for the 2012 Supplementary draft and was taken by the Browns. On June 7th 2013 he was suspended for 2 games by the NFL for violating the drug use policy. On July 5th, 2014 he was arrested for driving while impaired. On August 27, 2014 he was suspended for the 2014 season by the NFL. The suspension was reduced to 10 games on appeal and he played 5 games in 2014 before the Browns suspended him on Dec 27, 2014 for a violation of team policy on drugs. On Feb 3, 2015 he was suspended for the entire 2015 season due to an alcohol violation on a team flight. On Jan 20, 2016 he applied for reinstatement and was denied amid reports of another failed drug test. On July 25, 2016 he was finally reinstated by the NFL, with a 4 game suspension due at the beginning of the season for failing the drug test in early 2016. On Sept 29th Gordon left the Browns, a week shy of actually returning from his multiple suspensions and voluntarily checked himself into a drug rehab center. I list all of this just to highlight the fact that nothing on earth is going to keep Josh Gordon from getting high when he wants to get high. No penalties, no consequences, nothing will do it. He makes Rickey Williams look like a straight-laced altar boy and the only question is when he is going to get caught again, because he is going to get caught again and suspended for good this time. He's in Steve Howe territory. He's past Steve Howe territory. He just had the deviled egg pizza delivered to Mr. Hand's history class.
I would bring Gordon and his buddy Manzel in for try outs. If one or both of them can get their act straight it would be a huge pickup.
