    Just like ACC teams, right?

Florida A&M, Florida International, Northeastern, Kent State, Samford, Troy, Furman, Wyoming, Western Michigan, Richmond, Vanderbilt, Troy (again), Rice, Western Michigan (again), Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Temple, William & Mary, Middle Tennessee, Florida International (again), Central Michigan, Maine, Buffalo, Liberty, Appalachian State, Akron, and East Carolina- these were out of conference opponents for ACC teams this year.

The ACC didn't make too much of an effort there. However, GT did play Notre Dame, Duke played Alabama, and a couple of them played Southern Mississippi, if you think that's any good. The ACC did also play some games against Big East teams, which was good.

Once again, college football schedules are usually made multiple years in advance.

What top notch program three, four, five, six, seven years ago wanted to schedule Rutgers home-and-home? Also, why the f--- would Rutgers have even wanted to schedule a top notch program years ago when they were 1-10, 3-8, 2-9, 1-11? Rutgers was in the doldrums. Greg Schiano and RU were looking for wins. They weren't going to get that by scheduling Texas and Southern California and Florida. What they did was schedule middling programs from BCS conferences (Illinois, North Carolina), two true cupcakes (Howard and Ohio), and a quality independent (Navy).
    What's the problem?

I've never come across somebody which such an allergy to a conference like you have. What sprung your hatred of the Big East?

What does this have to do w/ the ACC? Are you saying Rutgers has played a tough schedule?

By the way Cakes, i'd say the same thing if an ACC team played a similar creampuff sched.

Playing top teams an help recruiting. Beating teams like UNC this year, illinois and Navy are not a big deal and if they had just 1 quality non-conf win there wouldn't be any doubt that RU deserves to play for the title if they win out.

Why must you be so stubborn on the schedule issue?

Rutgers is scheduled to play Maryland in 2007 and 2009.
They are scheduled to play Army each year from 2007-2012.
They are scheduled to play North Carolina in 2008, 2010, and 2011.
They are scheduled to play Navy for the next five years.
They are scheduled to play Buffalo for the next three years.
They are scheduled to play Notre Dame each year from 2010-2016.

    2016!!!

Look at how far in advance that game is scheduled!!!

Teams sometimes back out of games, but not often. It's hard to do and it can leave ill feelings.

Sooner or later you have to accept the fact that out of conference games are scheduled well in advance of the actual date.

Rutgers' 2006 performance and schedule strength is good enough to have them ranked 6th nationally on this mid-November date and that's the bottom line.

    Toughest Schedules

This is as of today's date.
The rankings are based on past opposition and future opposition.

    1. Cincinnati
    2. Michigan
    3. Connecticut
    4. Minnesota
    5. Southern California
    6. South Carolina
    7. Maryland
    8. Florida
    9. Texas
    10. West Virginia

Three Big East teams. One ACC team and that one ACC team was pummelled by West Virginia.

    Also of interest:
    29. Notre Dame
    37. Rutgers

B/c thewir sched has been a creampuff in a creampuff league!!!!!!! If they had even ONE qualitynon-conf opponent they'd control their own Championship destiny- just one!

What does the scheduling games in advance have to do w/ RU? When they scheduled UNC they thought they'd be a mid of the pack ACC team- that's still not good enough. other than that illinois always stinks, Navy is Navy. They could have scheduled better and they woudln't have to worry about getting snubbed.

I can buy the advanced schedule for Ul b/c you expect Miami to b a top 5-10 team but that's the only team I give a break to. WVU had MD as the highlight of the non-conf sched- that's not good enough.

My first ever trip to Giants Stadium was Army vs Notre Dame in 1977, I'm pretty sure Joe Montana played. ND won.

Air Force killed Army and Notre Dame killed Air Force ergo Notre Dame will decimate Army.

The Army game could be ND's bigest blowout this season.

You think one game would cover it? Weiss makes Mangini look like one of the Black Crowes.
