Exact language used in contract, which is very general

"The deal states Revis could be in default of his contract and have all of his 2017 guaranteed pay wiped out if he is "fined or suspended by the NFL or Club for Conduct Detrimental" or "fined or suspended for violation of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy" or "engaged in personal conduct reasonably judged by Club to adversely affect or reflect on Club"

Edit: But Revis can fight Jets over this, and another thing working against Jets is that NFL usually does not hand down displine until their court cases are over...Jets would eat 6 million in dead money..... this situation is going to be very interesting

Article with the above info is attached here http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2017/02/what_do_darrelle_revis_felony_fight_charges_mean_f.html

And we don't know what's on the recording and may never know. The guy following him could've been berating him, telling him that he sucks, using racial slurs. Who knows what really happened.

This whole thing reeks of a guy walking the street (probably drunk) sees a celebrity and wants to follow him around and bother him until he gets hit so he can make some money.

Like I said, potential criminal record or a video. Maybe it is self defense. Probably not though considering the indictment.

Revis could have run away, called an Uber, or the cops. Now he's being charged with 4 felonies.

THANK YOU! The bashing that has been going on in this thread has been downright ridiculous. We don't even know the full story yet. Why do NY fans have to treat their professional athletes like dogshit?

Revis can lawyer up and fight Jets....Jets may have to eat 6 million in dead money, if league does not impose disciplinary actions against Revis prior to when Jets owe him 2 million on March 2nd

That would be nice. Although TGG might lose some posters. Or maybe not, you can play on the internet from prison these days, right?

The laws in this country are a fucking joke--you step up to someone at 3am, piss them off and start filming them, nothing they do to you should be prosecuted. Fucking pussy DA coddling the criminal.

Totally agreed, what a joke. I am no Revis fan but he had every right to knock them the fuck out. If he receives a suspension from this its total bullshit. In real life, not the alternate safe space reality that people like to live in now, there are real consequences for your actions. That is how life works. If you antagonize a bear and then the bear rips your head off, its your fault, not the bears.

    Well said!

In addition I wonder how many gang-banging events went down that night with no arrests--this is no nice neighborhood. The cops took the easy road and charged a decent law abiding citizen because they could.

Yep, why go and bust a bunch of dangerous gun wielding, drug selling thugs when you can get a big write up for some petty crime and what really seems to be just self defense.

Exactly, this is real life with real consequences. Which is why Revis is in trouble. If you don't want to face jail time, don't beat up the asshole.

From what I understand, Revis did attempt to walk away, and at least the two injured men followed him. I say at least, because I heard that the two men were part of a group of 5, and one of the other five had given third party testimony.

Being followed by 2-5 men at 3am in Pittsburgh to me is enough reasonable doubt for claiming self defense. It will be up to the DA to decide whether there's enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it wasn't self defense.

You clearly missed it, GreenGreek. When you're harassed and tormented by 2-5 men at 3am in Pittsburgh, you are supposed powerwalk away and calmly summon an Uber. There's a decent chance you'll end up dead--well, a better chance of that than an Uber showing up there in a timely manner at that hour-- but rest (eternally) assured you were on the right side of the law.

I wonder how the Uber/death odds change when you're a recognized multimillionare...

Yeah Revis getting beat up in this thread is ridiculous. Maybe he went out at that time to avoid being filmed or bringing unwarranted attention to the area. He was there scouting the area for himself smh.
