I posted about this last season but I still can't believe anyone thinks this makes sense. Yeah you scored a goal legally but we're going to go back and say that since there was a player offsides by a fraction of an inch earlier in the game (often a minute ago or more) , we're going to pretend the last X amount of game time never happened and erase a legal goal. I think you should be allowed to challenge goals and that's it. If a ref misses an offsides, then you live with it, just like when an official blows a penalty call. Funny thing about last night is that not long after they erased Marleau's goal due to a very ticky tack offsides (it took a long review because it wasn't clear from the replay), he scored #499 a minute or two later anyway.
Brooklyn has been a huge disappointment that hasn't engaged the community. They aren't getting kicked out of Barclays, the Isles and the NHL have been exploring other options since last year. In fact, the very agreement between Brooklyn and the Isles reflects that this was always a temporary solution to the problems with Nassau. Best case scenario is that, if it worked, they would stay. But it hasn't worked, and the Isles were going to leave regardless. Barclays simply announcing it first, on their terms, doesn't really change that it is essentially mutual.

Very odd scheduling this season. Only one game tonight. CHI@MIN this week: 3 games monday, 11 tuesday 1 wednesday 11 thursday 2 friday 13 saturday
Apparently there are Bye weeks in the NHL now. First I've heard of it, but the Oilers are off until Saturday and I heard every team is taking a week off at some point this year. Weird
That's terrible, if they want more rest for the players, do what Tortorela did, eliminate some morning skates and allow the guys to use their energy for the games.
Penguins got the first week of the year off. Their first 2017 game was 1/8, as I posted earlier. It's a ridiculous idea.
Right I remember you pointing that out. Thanks for the reminder. Can't wait to get rid of that review/challenge offside thing. Holy fuck
9 games in 17 days isn't so bad. There are worse examples. Teams playing 3 road games in 4 days, etc. I think the bye weeks are nonsensical. If you have all this extra schedule time, then why make teams play difficult road trips by jamming in travel and 3 games in 4 days?
Great points, @Yisman and @matt robinson 17. The Caps have been on fire, now it's all HALTED with this Bye week starting today. Makes sense for football, less for hockey.
24 years since a Canadian team has won the Cup and it doesn't look like this will be the year either. Ottawa and Vancouver have never won.
In the Top 10 Hits of 2016-2017, the board's hit on Scott Hartnell tonight should be up there. Looked super painful.
Colorado's current road trip: 2/11-2/17 One week. Five games. They played Saturday and Sunday, they're playing today, then they're playing Thursday and Friday. Lots of similar examples around the league.
Claude Julien replaces Michel Therein as coach of the Habs. I always thought they were the same person...
