We will have to agree to disagree, I don't think Bowles playing Sheldon as OLB is an indictment on Mac, I believe it's just poor scheming because TB is a bad HC. Mauldin had a good rookie season but in his second season, was rarely seeing playing time because of bad scheming on TB part, then he ended up with that high ankle sprain and sat the last 5 games of the season. If Mac gets canned at the end of this year, who do you think the Jets should bring in?
So unless a top 20 1st round pick is the savior from day 1...he is an utter failure?? Nobody is gonna argue the jets are a mess..I'm just trying to follow how all of that falls on a draft pick that wasn't even taken top 10 & we knew from the get-go needed some time to round out his game.It sounds like you had unreasonable expectations for last year's #1 pick. 9 times out of 10..a player isn't gonna be your savior...drafting for someone to be such...unless you're truly 1 player away...or picking top 3 isn't realistic or a responsible strategy. I would argue the Jets ARE better off w. Lee.Before his arrival they had 0 youth at middle/nickel back...0 athleticism inside the box...0 sideline to sideline ability. Now they actually have someone..that w. the right grooming..can not only start at linebacker..but gives us abilities in space that we lacked all together before his arrival.
Is Erik Dacosta available again? Woody wanted to interview him when Mac was hired, but was unable because Dacosta figured he would take over for Ozzie Newsome rather soon. I would think Woody should start by trying to interview Dacosta.
He is the heir to Ozzies throne, he was also given a raise by the Ravens to keep him happy. I don't think he is going to leave them, especially for the Jets.
