According to CBS Sportsline the falcons have dismissed Brian Cox as the defensive line coach, I have no idea why and I do no not care. This is the kind of guy who this team needs waiting on the sideline when the defense comes off the field one screwup after another. This is the guy who was Parcells field general in the late 90s. This is the guy who should be waiting on the sidelines when Richardson decides to take a few plays off.
after last year, even herm is looking better. i can not recall in the last 50 years seeing so many secondary screwups on the jets defense. rex may have screwed up on offense, but his defense looked better than that.
Remember that year Ted Cotrell decided the defense didn't need to practice tackling? Jets led the league in pass defense because the defense could never get the other team into a third-and-long. Hell, they couldn't get the other team in a second-and-long.
Yes I think you're referring to 2003. Wasn't that the year the Raiders took the opening kickoff and ran the ball something like 14 straight times for a TD drive. Without a single pass attempt they just ran it down their throats . Ironically I the Jets won the game .....but that was a lousy year .
Wasnt Cox our D-Line coach when Mangini was around? He had Ellis and Bryan Thomas (I think he was still DE those years) to work with but also limited by the God forsaken dewayne robertson
They fired Pepper Johnson as D Line coach and only have Scott as an Assistant coach. Cox can bring the fire needed to kick some butt and get good results. The Atlanta firing was just a wholesale dumping of Defensive coaches, even though the Head Coach had as much or more to do with the 2nd half collapse.
