Alex Marvez of the Sporting News is reporting that the Jets are hiring Kevin Greene as their new outside linebackers coach.

There was some talk that the Jets were going to hire Clint Hurtt to coach outside linebackers, but he later joined the Seahawks’ coaching staff.

Greene will replace Mark Collins on the Jets’ defensive coaching staff.

Greene, 54, former fifth-round pick of the Rams back in 1985. He played 15 years in the NFL for the Rams, Steelers, Panthers and 49ers before he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year.

The Packers hired him as their OLBs coach back in 2009 and he helped them win a Super Bowl title during the 2010 season. Greene later stepped away from coaching to spend more time with his family, but he’s been seen visiting with a few teams in recent years, so the possibility was always there that he could return to coaching in the NFL at some point.

This is a nice addition. I remember when he was part of some of those good Rams D's when their coach was John Robinson.

Let's wait until he actually admits to being hired by the Jets before we get all excited about this one.

The man can teach! And that's what's been lacking in Jet coaches. Teaching, so the players improve.
    Great hire.

If he can coach half as well as he played... we're in good hands.

Shit...he's probably still a better player than half of our scrubs.

    I openly admit I don't know shit

    But

I would love to have him.

To me football is more about scheme, desire, heart , planning, and execution over raw fake ass hood talent

I hear Dunbar is the DL coach at Alabama - he could coach this DL back to respectability. One more young ILB and 3 young kids there under Kevin's tutelage could prove lethal, once the DL is unfucked. I am liking this move to say the very least.

Love the hire, maybe Bubba brought him in to help Sheldon Richardson learn how to play OLB better this year.
