I hope they lock up Rhodes as well, but its good to hear that they intend on locking up Cotchery.

I'm surprised more guys don't restructure like Coles is.

Hey, you know that million we are supposed to pay you next year, how about we give it to you now?

No, I'd rather wait til next year on my non-guaranteed contract.

If we've got the space, keep it up!

thanks for posting. and that is a very very smart move on Tannenbaums behalf.

I'm not trying to pull a 20/20 hindsight but after watching Cotch at NCSU I expected him to be our number 2 his rookie year and at the latest next year. Hes finally gotten his chance and has proved he fits the bill.

    4 Yr contract, at least.

What caught my eye though was the mention of BJ Askew. it makes sense since weve seen less of sean ryan playing at fullback, and the fact I expected us to put James Hodgins in after he caught a hold of the system, yet it hasnt happened.

Askew mustve turned it up in the eyes of the staff after being "on the bubble".

I never really thought Askew was on the bubble. I like Askew, he has the talent to be a very good fullback and he's versatile.

Actually the above Nammath article pretty entertaining too. Joe Willie emanates the same type of exuberance the rest of us do.

I always thought Askew was a waste and was never commited to FB, wanting the starting HB role instead. I was surprised he made the roster. With that said, he definitely has been playing much better of late and may have me eating crow before all is said and done....

The one thing the Jets have been good about is locking up the young guys when they can afford to do it. Coles leaving a few years ago was a fluke (and mostly because Dan Schnyder threw more money than it was worth in front of him), but I feel confident the Jets will keep Rhodes and Vilma.

We need to start that Eagles philosophy...cheap 7 year deals to the young guys that stand out after a year or two.

Seriously, they're set for years with the core players they have.

That would be a really smart move by Tannenbaum! I'm really happy Cotch finally got his chance this year!

Lock up Cotchery and Rhodes for the long-term.

Great to see Woody is around the team so much. He proved this off-season with his and Kraft's CBA plan that he cares about being the Jets owner.

i really like the way this new FO is running. finally making smart decisions for later down the road, while still making progress for the current season.
