cbg is right, this isn't an inconvenient rainy day heading our way. big winds, lots of rain and already soft ground is the recipe for uprooted trees. looks like the frozen will stay well west ,as in pennsylvania,@Cman60 got salt? and well north, closer to albany. maybe, maybe some back end snow around 1-84. now this isn't a hurricane where we should be fighting in the grocery store for the last can of spam but everyone should atleast think about what they have in the house and maybe grab a case of water and a tank of gas. then a couple of clipper systems give us some chances thursday and the weekend. temps get back to wintery late in the week, no big amounts if any. february is our month though cbg.
looks as if they are still trending colder, crazy stuff these computer models.I am not sure what to make of it
this is the latest gfs snow map thru tuesday 6pm, however this doesn't jive with what the mslp map shows or with the air temps modeled for the time frame. very confused, this is graduate work. paging dr @jaywayne12 to the control tower!
Well if you are confused FJAYF welcome to my world, lol . Geeks on other sites saying it stays frozen the entire time up your way / north of 84 .Does anyone really know what is going happen with this system ? I mean I have zero idea what I am going to get here
Nam has not backed off at all in fact it was alone until last nites RGEM which I believe has been fairly accurate,,,,thoughts ?
i think it will start out a bit frozen for north jersey, pa, north and west of city before turning all liquid, i think west of binghamton and north of albany stays all frozen.it is going to be a nasty commute home for many monday evening and tuesday morning. the latest gfs and euro seem to agree. this could have been a monster if we could have gotten a cold air supply from the north.
FJAY this keeps trending cold and it looks awfully close to NYC ,,,,,are we getting in the game ? or am I way off base here
defintely colder this run then last run. nws albany just issued a winter weather watch for most of the area. still feel like the meat of the storm will be too warm. next run is out soon, we'll see.
looking at the models and local forecasters and it appears that no one really knows who will get exactly what ! The Euro last night showed colder solution,,,,its almost past short range time and I believe its called NOWCASTING,,,,be safe all
gfs comes back colder,@CBG i think you were right the whole way. all snow north of 84? john elliot called for 1-3 in putnam and 3-6 north of that. we'll see what happens this afternoon, be safe everyone
FJAYF,,,,I hope you are in the game,I don't know if I am or NYC is because these models are all over the place, what time does the HRRR run ? I know that it did well with the last storm 2 weeks ago , post results or let me know when it runs if u can . Either way this is going to be a mess tonight and tomorrow for many be safe all . Watch out for flying monkeys all
Just a very cold rain today here. 1 year anniversary of the blizzard of 2016 today! We got 30" last year!
Yea brook. pretty much the entire tti state area ia at risk. grounds soft and the winds will be strong so..... Coastal jersey , long island and coastal Connecticut are the highest risks. Right now i have sleet and 40 degrees.
Thanks FJF. Weather.com was saying we would have 25 mph winds and I thought we would be safe but now I am worried. @GQMartin . Watch out. See what FJF is saying.
