None of that addresses the fact that he's totally content with a high volume of drops as long as he's not #1 in drops.

His comments show that he's obsessed with stats, not winning. The guy is a loser, a stat compiler who cares about his own numbers and not the team, but since many successful broadcasting personalities had loser careers in the NFL, I guess he fits the profile.

The NFL is truly a what have you done for me lately business but have we completely forgotten the 2015 season? I think Marshall is worth the 7.5 IF they have a competent offense and QB that can get him the ball. I don't think that will be the case next year so I am ok with the Jets deciding to cut him if that happens but I agree with his assessment he is worth that money. He does have some bad drops but no more than the other guy across town named Odell and we saw last year when you have an offense thats working he can produce touchdowns and yards at a level with the best of them. I'm bummed that most likely will not get to see what Marshall, Decker, Enunwa and these other young guys could do together for another year.

Marshall is not underpaid as he had a really bad 2016 year where his actions off the field were worse than on the field. Sure, his production took a major hit and that's because we had bad QB play for the entire 2016 season but he looked unmotivated, uninterested, and dropped a bunch of easy balls. His unconditional support for Fitz no doubt caused a huge rift within the locker room. I've said this before but players cannot get attached to QB's like that. It sends a bad message to their teammates, especially when that QB is not good, or elite. Furthermore, it shows that players are out of touch with ownership and the front office and also shows a "inmates running the asylum" kinda situation.

He was a big proponent of that so if he's back or not is anyone's guess, I'm neutral on it but I could totally see the Jets parting ways as they try to get younger & cheaper at the position.

I alluded to it earlier in this thread...on Inside the NFL they were doing they're usual end of show stand up ass grab improv show wrap and Simms tossed an underhand pass to Marshall...who quickly quipped "that's the first post-season pass I've ever caught!".

For some reason that really pissed me off.

However one feels about Brandon Marshall, the Jets just don't need him this upcoming year.

Yeah, well that's the thing. I don't consider him a top WR in the NFL anymore. With a volatile emotional player like him, it's only a matter of time before the negatives begin to outweigh the positives. He's good, but I still think it's best we cut ties this off season before that happens. I don't agree that he doesn't take his craft seriously or doesn't put in effort, that is just ridiculous assumption. Of course he's not going to be worried about being ranked #50 in drop percentage.

Again, drop% is far better indicator of reality than total drops. That's just a simple fact about player efficiency, not sure why everybody's ignoring this. He has a low drop %, they just came during big moments so as fans we remember them and see it differently than what the facts say.

But again, he was ranked near 50th in drop percentage. He's content because he gets so many targets, it clearly said that in the article. What do you expect the guy to say, "Yeah, I suck. I totally fell off and think my career is going downhill because of all the drops."

I do think it's time to cut ties, yes, but not because of the drops, because he's wearing down. If you feel total drops are more important than drop%, then I'd like to hear your argument for this. Maybe I'm totally wrong here.

Marshall ranks in #2 drop percentage (in '15 as well)...but guess which team leads the category?

    Yep...the Jets.
