I'm really concerned McCagnan is going to give big money to Glennon

That requires a coaching staff capable of developing a young QB -- which may be the bigger problem.

It doesn't matter what vet plays QB for this team. They need to find someone to take a beating (even Geno) until they find
someone in the draft. I hope they draft 6 QB's this year.

I think Chicago is at least as bad as us, not to mention SF, and Cleveland could be in that bucket too.

Whoever they might sign, they need to be cheap, and a short - 1 year - contract so they don't block the development of any younger QBs who might be the long term answer. Geno may actually be their best bet.

If they really want to go this route and bank on Petty or Hackenberg developing, I'd go with Hoyer. Vet with experience who actually played very well this year and would probably come pretty cheap

Coming out of North Carolina State Glennon advocates claimed he was victim of a revolving door, shaky group of receivers (his HC Tom O'Brien ended up getting fired during Glennon's senior year). Then came the 2012 Music City Bowl vs. Vanderbilt when Glennon stunk up the joint throwing pick after pick after pick (vs. a garbage time TD) while being outplayed by Vandy QB Jordan Rogers (Aaron Rogers' little brother). Slow, immobile pencil-neck who's a butter-fingered turnover machine under pressure. Pass, pass, pass. . : (

This is the best idea i've heard yet. So many QB's training camp is like a season of Survivor. One of them HAS to work. If not, do it again next year til it works.

According to what? You can't just throw make believe numbers out there.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving Glennon 3 years/$36 million with half guaranteed. No more.

I honestly could see us drafting Watson though and staying away from all of these stop gaps.

Glennon's problem is a lack of pocket mobility. He's not fleet of foot and he's literally a statue. You can make it work if you slide well in the pocket although I'm not entirely sure whether he can or not. He seems to be somewhat efficient and accurate though. I just question the release as he has very long arms and not a very compact release.

I'd rather draft another QB and roll the dice with what we've got. If Macc honestly believes we have to build a team around a QB that's already in the league, it means the our odds at ever developing a QB are hopeless.

then why sign a vet? if you want to develope your own qbs the best way is to just keep your own qbs. draft a guy, give petty the first shot( based on experience) and roll with it.
why do we have to have the "vet qb"? if he has to play we are fucked anyway. let everyone know, we are either going to find our qb this year or suck and hope we find him next year. and if we don't find him next year? yup, we will suck and hope we find him the year after. thtas the way they want the league to be, thats what we have to do, we tried to be competitive without one, it doesn't work so bitch, moan, complain, fly banners we don't care. we are done signing jags to placate the media and the fans. its 2-14 or 12-4. no more in between.

i would build a statue to the g.m that stood up and said that.

We have enough to deal with without coming up with hypothetical situations to get upset about

This is all about bad drafting. If Mac had gotten decent players in Petty and Hack, the outlook would be much more optimistic. So once again this isn't just about bad coaching, this is about a bad GM also.

I'm not worried about it, everything that Mac has done as far as contracts are concerned have been structured with options to avoid cap Hell in future years. This will not be any different.

The only contracts that have been made with an opt out option is with Mo, who was signed with the future In mind.

Mac HAS to nail this upcoming draft, I actually have a lot of faith in this guy from a scouting perspective but he can't drop the ball this offseason if he plans on being here awhile.

I'm not advocating for signing a vet - although I'm not necessarily opposed to it either, under the terms I stated. The reality is that Macc is very unlikely to go into next season with Petty, Hack, and a new rookie. Things could get VERY ugly, and given the already no patience most of us have, there might be lynchings if the Jets do go 2-14 or worse.

If you are Glennon aren't you going to use the cock's contract as a starting point? 4 years 72 mil?

We're not winning shit with Glennon....unathletic statue who just isn't that good. If he was franchise QB material the Bucs would have traded the Winston pick for a kings ransom...he's not

Osweiler part 2 and there's a good chance we get duped by a trash QB...again
