From what I read, ESPN reported the Jets were prepared to offer him a contract but he did not allow that to happen, simply told them he was going to keep his current job.

I think the water boy for the Denver Broncos also turned down the jets OC job.

    ouch....

hiring a running backs coach as your OC is almost as bad as hiring a defensive backs coach as your head coach. but at least herm said yes. this guy was like ehhh thats great and all but i think im just going to stay out here and work handoff drills.

Maybe he just really likes the staff in Denver.
Maybe him and his family just really like Denver.
Maybe he just doesn't want to be an offensive coordinator.

People going nuts acting like a guy not wanting a promotion on the other side of the country is doom. That it's because it's a circus. It could have been any number of reasons that ordinary people turn down job offers for.

No one is going nuts, but do you think he would turn down an OC job opportunity with the Patriots, Steelers, Green Bay, Carolina?

I think its more likely that he doesn't want to have to be looking for a new job again next offseason than it is that he prefers being a position coach for less money

Not sure why they just wouldn't give Karl Dorrell a shot at this. He's probably the best coach on the staff honestly.

In addition, one has to admit that it casts the Jets in a negative light.

I agree with you, but let's be honest as well, would you accept a promotion to co captain the Titanic?

I know I would not, but your right, him being content plays a major role.

I wouldn't call it the Titanic. This isn't Cleveland.

Not the case at all. Jets told him they are still looking. He went back to Denver.

Eric Studesville, who interviewed with coach Todd Bowles earlier this week, has elected to return to the Denver Broncos as the team's running backs coach, per 9News. Studesville is believed to be the only coach to interview for the Jets' vacant coordinator position thus far.

According to ESPN, the Jets were expected to offer Studesville a contract. Whether they did or not is not yet known.

Studesville, 46, has been a member of the Broncos' coaching staff for the last seven seasons. Each year, he has coached the team's running backs. For four games he was the team's interim head coach in 2010.

He served as the offensive quality control coach with the Bears (1997-2000), then coached the running backs for the Giants (2001-2003) and Bills (2004-2009) before arriving in Denver in 2010. He coached collegiately from 1991 through 1996.

I guess we are both correct.

I would have done the same thing if I were Studesville. No self-respecting NFL coach is going to come to this dumpster fire knowing that he's going to be fired alongside Bowles and the rest of the staff at the end of the season.

The only kind of guy you're going to be able to get is a Chip Kelly-type, someone with an ego so big that he thinks he can right the ship all on his own. Either that or some unproven college coach who wants to get his foot in the door at the NFL level. Either way, it's not looking good for the Jets. Big surprise there.
