Anyone who expected Villanova to go undefeated this year is out of their mind. It's not like they play in the WCC.
no they play in the Patriot League. ...whoops excuse me, sorry about that I was looking at their non-conference schedule
Easy....eesay.... Their pre-conference schedule did include wins @Purdue and wins over ACC's ND and Wake, two teams from a brutally tough 2016-17 ACC conference who will probably land double digit teams in the NCAAs. I addition the local "Big 5" teams 'Nova played were A-10 not Patriot : -) As for your Laniers of Olean, outside of losing to Florida on the road their pre-confrence schedule of (Pepperdine Farms, Siena) etc. has been meh and that 90-74 beatdown at home against Dayton (whose main man is lost for the year and as a result they're probably not going to challenge URI or VCU for the A-10 title) didn't help any.
hahaha yeah Nova's sked has been decent. Two wins against teams in that insanely tough, best conference in all the universe, ACC, should prepare them well. I was just trying to stir the damn pot a little here. This NCAA-b ball thread used to be a war zone. Without the cheating tarhole fan and the cheating orange head its been nothing but crickets in here. Someone's got to carry the torch. and yes the Brown Indians have been disappointing this year. Someone needs to tell them that defense is still a thing in basketball
I don't blame you or any Bonaventure fan when it comes to Villanova since they cost Bonaventure their only chance at an NCAA title when Chris Ford injured Bob Lanier during the NCAA tournament in a game the Bonnies already had in hand (this after already screwing Bonaventure at Villanova with a home job during the regular season). Oh and one other thing: Villanova's star Howard Porter played half his senior season after already signing a professional contract with the Pittsburgh Condors of the ABA......'magine that ; ) http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-t...ted-the-ncaa-tournament-1970-ncaa-final-four/
amen joe that was a little before my time but my old man without question believes they would've won the national title and hates Nova with a passion
Well it was waay before my college time as well, but this wasn't: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/09/sports/basketball-villanova-is-latest-to-face-scandal.html hey if you're going to stir the pot you gotta get (or start) with "the program" ; )
No surprise that Gonzaga is the final undefeated team standing. they should be able to run the table, unless they get upset by Bayside, or West Beverly High.
Last night had an awesome slate of college basketball games: -Kansas, Kentucky and the defending national champions all lost on the same night. -The Nova/Marquette one being a dandy of a game. -Pitt got tea-bagged 106-51, that was nice to see -The self-proclaimed NY college team won a barnburner against wake
Might as well accept that Gonzaga is going to be the #1 overall seed. There isn't a high school in the country that can't go undefeated against that remaining schedule.
this thread really is completely different without those 2 aholes all over it. i havent really gotten into college basketball this year, uconn sucks a big fat cock this year and play in some dog shit conference, im still rooting against duke and all the big east teams that went to the acc though.
For all the praises that this year's ACC is the best conference ever, how about the fact that Villanova is 3-0 against that very same ACC?
http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2017/02/12/former-syracuse-star-fab-melo-dies-at-age-26.html Fab Melo, a center who played at Syracuse and with three different NBA organizations, passed away in his native country of Brazil, according to multiple reports. He was 26 years old. According to the Military Police, Melo, who had been playing professionally in his home country, was found dead in his home Saturday morning. “We don’t know the cause yet,” Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim told ESPN. “It’s so hard right now, so hard to believe. It’s a sad, sad day.”
This tournament is going to be out of control. So many teams who are neck and neck with each other. In previous years we always had 1-4 dominate teams who were head and shoulders above the rest of the field, but this year it looks like its Villanova and then everyone else. The experience that they possess over the other teams is what is going to make them so much more dangerous come March/early April.
BLASPHEMY! Gonzaga should be awarded the national title without having to compete in the tournament!!!
how do you only score 48 points in a game that went to OT??? I know Virginia is known for their defense, and they do play good D, but that is just awful. The box score says they got to the line 20 times as well. So they played 45 minutes, with a 30 second shot clock and got to the free throw line 20 times and they only put up 48 total. That is just bad basketball.
