Imagine hiring a 30 year old head coach? It's absurd to think someone that young has the leadership skills needed to do that job.
Give me a break! You don't think that Bowles who has been in the NFL as a player and coach for almost 30 years won't demand more respect than Sean McVey who looks like Steve Stifler?
I mean. Different era but John Madden and Don Shula were both 32 and 33 respectively. Tomlin, Gruden & Cowher were all 34 at the time of their hires. Shanahan was 35. They all have Super Bowl victories more recent than our very own New York Jets.... Age matters less than the character of the man of that age. McDaniels, Lane Kiffin and Rahiem Morris are examples of youthful failures. But there's plenty of young hires that have worked out. For a franchise that's been the definition of mediocrity or below since Warner left and a year or so of Bulger, it could be a good hire. He gets a year or two of a pressure free situation before the heat turns up with the new stadium.
Yerp. Exactly my point. Leaders are leaders at birth. It's tough to magically become one when it's your 40th birthday. Fucking Jethro Tull. Cmon man.
I'm sorry, but 30 years old is way too young to be a Head Coach in the NFL. Madden and Shula at 32 and 33 coached in a totally different league in terms of popularity and money. You really expect Sean McVey to get any respect? Stan Kronke better lock his liquor cabinet. If Bowles and Fisher don't get respect wait to see what they do to this kid.
That kid is going to be a great coach. Take a look at this background. We have a coach that is so clueless that he won't even talk to Wade Philips who would be a great DC for us and now they are looking at a guy for OC who has never done anything special. What a disgrace that Woody did not fire both of these clowns.
Jethro Tull, just occurred to me that they are singularly responsible for Metallica going totally commercial after they lost the first ever metal Grammy to a band that featured a flute. I guess you could call that a blessing in disguise, considering the shambles Metallica has become since then. They sped up the faggotry process by probably a decade.
The point is, who are you to say it's not going to work? Sometimes younger coaches connect better with younger players. You mention Madden and Shula, yet left out Gruden, Cowher, Tomlin and to a lesser extent Shanahan. As long as a franchise is committed to giving him a fair shake, then you can end up having a quality head coach for 20+ years. Andy Reid was a bit older at 41, but the Eagles committed and found an absolute gem of a football mind for 14 years in Philly. Edit: the Rams just did exactly what they needed to do with McVay in signing an experienced Wade Phillips to run the defense. Takes a ton of pressure off of him in running the entire team.
Well he now has Wade Phillips as his DC which is a great first hire. Sounds like he's going to get a bunch of guys with experience around him and grow into HC.
