Pretty ridiculous that a nobody bringing out a caution cost him not only the win, and a top 20, but a spot in the finals too.

Kyle didn't really do anything bad. He was racing for his own life. Bowman did a good job blocking, and Matt came down too far, and wrecked himself. Is what it is.

I thought it was pretty exciting.

    JJ wins his seventh Cup

he got lucky because Edwards wrecked on a restart with 10 laps left

late cautions and restarts have wreaked havoc with so many races this year

Sprint ending its sponsorship of the Cup

Carl didn't get screwed, he had a shit restart and got spun trying to block Logano on the fucking apron.

Not happy Jimmie won but it's a win for Chevy so I'm cool with that.

Poor Kenseth my ass, he's only a good driver when he has an amazing car and he's a douche to teammates who are better drivers. He blocked Kyle in that race so many times and the guy is his fucking teammate.

He'll probably end up driving for some shit team like Furniture Row soon that doesn't have drivers better than him.

The guy is a bitch, he's just the type of bitch that shows up shiny after races even though most guys in the garage think he's a douche.

I liked Cousin Carl but I don't think he'll be missed much in the garage. I read so many times how hated he was almost across the board by drivers and crew chiefs, always surprised me when I read it.

That doesn't seem true on the surface. It always seemed like he was universally loved.

he didn't retire. He just said he's not racing this year.

I guess he could return although the team may have moved on by then.

    Yeah...

"I've been racing for over 20 years," said Edwards. "It's been something that I wouldn't trade for anything. I have no regrets. It's been a blast, and I owe thanks to a lot of people: My family, my mom, my dad, and all the people who have become like family through racing.
"This has been a very difficult decision for me, but I'm confident that it is the right one. It would be impossible for me to thank everyone I need to, but I do want to take a moment to say I greatly appreciate the support from Coach Gibbs and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing, and of course my fans. I could not ask for a better situation in racing than the one I've had, so stepping away from that certainly took a lot of consideration.

I'm satisfied with my career," he continued. "I'd like to spend time on other things outside of racing, and my health is important to me. I am one hundred percent healthy, that's not an issue.
"I have a lot of interests outside of racing. I want to be able to spend time on things outside of the sport that are important to me. And I really think it's the right thing to do. I know this whole thing is confusing and might not make sense to people. It makes me nervous to think about doing something like this.
"I'd considered next year being my final year, but I hadn't really put a lot of thought into it. After Homestead, I had some time to sit, think and reflect about all of this. I thought, man, I can't come up with a good reason to wait, so why isn't this a good time?
"And so I presented that to Coach (Joe Gibbs). I didn't know what he would say. But he and the sponsors, accommodated me in a way I just didn't expect, and that means a lot.
"I'm going to take some time. There's no life raft I'm jumping onto. I'm just jumping. And in a way, it makes it easier, because I'm not being swayed by some carrot out there, something going on. There is no new manufacturer ride coming in, in three yearsthat's going to pay me a fortune to return.
    There is nothing like that.
"This is a pure, simple, personal decision."

... that totally sounds like he's taking a year off.

Speaking of NASCAR, they're changing even more shit. Monday they'll have a press conference to say what's getting changed.

He did not retire. That's my point.

He could have, but he chose not to.

I'm not saying he's coming back, just that this is the way he did it and I'm sure there's a reason.

At least Edwards is retiring when he is healthy and his kids are young. Give him credit!
