He looks like Alay Soler's evil twin, locked in the attic for years.

Haven't heard anything about Zito and the Yankees yet, but this little tidbit is from Peter Abraham (who is one of the most accurate Yankee beat guys out there.)

http://www.lohud.com/blogs/lohudyankees.html (in the comments section of his latest post, near the bottom)

He's usually accurate, so we can only hope that he is right here. I tend to believe him, because like I said he's usually right, and I also can't imagine Cashman being stupid enough to pay big money for Zito.

I'd love to see Nomar playing 1B here, and I know the Yankees will show interest as they did last year. But Carlos Lee is going to get a ton of money and has never played 1B before (actually, 5 games in 1999.)

I said last year I would have loved Nomar here. 19 games for him to show the Sox how bad a mistake it was to dump him.

Plus, we would have 3 of the best shortstops in baseball playing in our infield! :breakdance:

Not that bad of a mistake. They won the World Series.

I don't understand how you do not make an Alex Rodriguez for Carlos Zambrano trade.

I can understand how Chicago doesn't make that trade, with Aramis Ramirez locked up longterm.

Well, does this article answer that question from yesterday about why Yankee fans don't blame Cashman for any of our problems, and only praise him for the good things?

Cashman is second only to Mangini/Tanny on my sports hero list.

Never been a huge fan of the Moose but he's solid...I just wish he would stay healthy for a full year and not crumble in the postseason...

Outside of his 3 inning performance in the Game 7 03' ALCS, he hasn't done much when it counts.

That's not true. Down 2-0 in the 2001 ALDS, he won the 1-0 duel with Zito pitching 7 scoreless innings. Then gave up only 2 runs in 6 IP in the ALCS, then had one poor start and one really good start in the WS. In 2002, like pretty much everyone, he pitched poorly. Then in 2003 he was good in the ALDS, great in ALCS game 7, and was dominate in game 3 of the WS (7 IP 0 ER 9 K), 2004 ALDS he did well. But the last three playoff series, like the entire team, he's been hit or miss, more of a miss.

He's been a much more consistent playoff performer for the Yankees than Pettitte. The difference is that Pettitte was on a dynasty, Mussina wasn't.

22.5 million for 2 years is overpaying him.

Better fallback option would of been Suppan.

Except that A-Rod was a great shortstop before he became a basketcase 3rd baseman.

I think the main problem is that Zambrano is a dominating starter who is cheaper than Soap Opera Alex.

Considering the fact that bottom-barrel garbage like Jeff Suppan might get close to $10M per, I'm glad to bring Mussina back for that salary.

I like Meche, he has good stuff, but he has a habit of getting a little out of whack with some mechanical things. If Guidry can keep him mechanically sound, he could be a good sign. As far as the Willis thing goes, if Melky Cabrera is the top prospect we'd be giving up in a trade, then I wouldn't totally hate it. Cabrera and two average at best prospects is the most I'd give up for him. That won't get it done, so I have no problem with him not coming here.

I wouldn't trade Melky for Willis. Melky is a starting caliber outfielder. Willis was weak in the NL last season. I wouldn't mind getting Willis somehow, but not for our youth.

I don't mind Meche. He isn't great, but he is a good option to fall to say third in the rotation.

This offseason is very interesting. This is how a team is supposed to be run. Note to Tampa: Just keep shutting the F*** up. We like it this way!
