How exactly are these guys planning on improving the Jets? Year after year, we pass up marquee free agents and find ourselves knee deep in salary cap trouble. This offseason, with the firing of Bradway, was certainly an improvement, but we continue to rely on the draft. We are a New York team, with a season ticket waiting list 20 years long, and a thriving merchandise sale business (proven by gipping people on shop.newyorkjets.com - 8 bucks for 2 week shipping on the goddamn $1.99 charity bracelet). With the exception of Ty Law, our front office seems to be afraid to sign anybody who could make a significant positive impact on our team. A blind midget could have predicted that our running game was going to be awful this year, and in turn, we could have gone out to get a deep-threat WR on the free agent market, and albeit he is a clubhouse cancer, Mangini could have whipped Terrell Owens into a more of a motivated team player than he was last season, shown by his handling of Justin McCareins. I am sick of getting knocked out of the first two rounds of the postseason, if we make the playoffs at all. I want a big green diamond ring on my finger, and with that said, lets kick some goddamn Patriot ass.
Parcells couldn't tame TO. What makes you think Mangini, a baby-face rookie HC, would have a different impact? And what do you mean the Jets aren't improving? They've already matched their win totals from last season...and it's a frickin' rebuilding year!
Yeah ok, why don't you go root for the redskins? I hear they are planning to spend a ton of money on over priced garbage free agents. If you haven't figured out yet you don't become a good team through free agency. They are rebuilding which means they will go through a year or possibly two where they are not a highly competitive team in order to rebuild the roster. This offseason they will spend some money on some free agents, but again the key is the draft. Try to have a little patience.
What possible logic do you have that Mangini could handle TO. And TO's problem isn't motivation. He plays hard. His problem is he's a cancerous attention whore.
Amen. Now there always may be a FA or two that can help put you over the top but just look at the Redskins for how FA does NOT work
your logic simply does not work here.....sorry, but every single one of your points are wrong. are you sure your a jets fan?
Um, Isn't this the first year for our FO? And, free agency isn't everything. Getting young players in the draft is how you build a team. IMO, free agents are primarily for plugging gaping holes at a position.
Where are we at with our inhibitive Cap that we have been carrying for the last few years? All those heavy contracts for Vinny, Curtis, Mo, Wayne, etc etc.. have we managed to dump all those yet? apart from the curtis one of course.
Smart, tough players - the mantra of Mangini - and what wins in the salary cap era. With Curtis retiring after June 1 we will free up a bunch of cap room to sign a DL and/or a LB - plus another Olineman. The core has to be built through the draft- FA adds the final touches.

Since when was our Running game awful? Maybe inconsistent, but not awful...the running game did the job against the Pats in the clutch...
Someone post this as a new thread, I don't have enough posts to do it. Vinny Testaverde has gone to the Patriots. There is no loyalty left anywhere. ESPN is covering it on the website.
Don't know about both of them. Although both would be nice, i think Thomas and Hobson can split time at the other OLB spot next year. Hobson has been blitzing very effectively lately.
