Duuuuuude why don't you like periods?

That'd be a fun season. Every week would be a mystery and a reset. This board would be even better to read.

Tyrod isn't terrible but is he good enough to put a lot of money into? I say no way. What would you pay him? More than Fitz's $12 mil right? No thanks.

With the wonder of the internet, we don't have to harcon: http://www.nfl.com/videos/buffalo-bills/0ap3000000417499/Geno-Smith-struggles-vs-Bills
I'm committed to linking this video any time a poster says re-signing Geno would be a good idea.

Of all the options we seem to have, I'd rather either go with the option of having Petty and/or Hackenberg play out the 2017 season as the starter or go out and get A.J. McCarron. He can probably be had for relatively little in terms of what would have to be given up via trade and he has shown some promise in limited action, going so far as to keep Cincinnati competitive and in position to win a playoff game against Pittsburgh last year. He could be either the hold-the-fort guy while Maccagnan and company search for the QB of the future or, given a proper chance to develop and some weapons around him (a lot of which we already have in place), he could turn out to be that guy.

Chase Daniel should also be a guy that Maccagnan considers adding via trade, unless the Eagles' asking price is too high.

Rumor is that Cincinnati wanted a first round pick for McCarron. At this point I could see them letting Dalton live out his contract then giving AJ a chance. Dalton clearly can't win playoff games.

Chase Daniel?! All 5'10" of him? No thank you.

Everyone also needs to understand that with a coach and general manager on the hot seat I'd say there's a very tiny percentage we roll in 2017 with Hackenberg/Petty as the only quarterbacks on the roster.

The odds are both Petty and Hackenberg will be around for 2017 along with some journeyman mentioned somewhere above. The surprise will be the sticker shock experienced when that journeyman is signed. Twelve million will sound cheap, real cheap.

Will be interesting what input the new OC will have and who he will want the jets to bring in to run his system.

After watching The Miami D literally waltz through our offensive line untouched and destroy our QB I stopped evaluating if Petty could be our QB or not. A rookie needs time to see the play develop more than a vet. Instead, he was smashed like a grape and running for his life. It was a shit show for the poor kid. Did
I mention coming from behind with no running game.
Fact is, We still don't know enough about his ability to grow and play, and probably not before he gets killed.

As much as we'd like to make conclusions on what we saw from petty he never really had a chance with our oline and half the team checking out on the season. I think he did well given the circumstances and had rough patches which is what rookies do.

2017's going to be a mess, roster has holes all over the place.

Tank or accrue enough picks to package for the rights to Sam Darnold (whenever he declares - '18 or '19)...

That's funny, I just asked this in the Draft forum's 2017 QBs thread. But is there a good chance Darnold leaves USC after next year?

As much as I don't want it to happen the Jets may look at 2016 as the year to grab a qb in the first round. They may not be this high in the draft again next year. It makes sense that way and QBs always get drafted higher than they should regardless of their talent. Unfortunately this thought process would completely screw up 2017 as there are so many more things that should be addressed.

Deshaun Watson is playing the best 'Bama D ever tonight. Could be future Jets QB.

If he repeats last years performance he may not make it to our pick.
