http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-j...r-qb-christian-hackenberg-appear-to-be-fading Taken from today's ESPN.com: Well Hack fans, I guess you can go back to hating Cimini now. I wonder if Hack would have been better off just playing one series in the Buffalo game. At least if he did, he would have had an opportunity to show something. Keeping him under wraps and hoping he suddenly turns into the QBoTF may not be the way to go here as it appears what is lacking is demonstrable progress. The Jets certainly are acting as if Hack isn't ready to do anything other than grab his clipboard. If the Jets don't have the worst Qb situation in football, we're in the top 3.
Have to hope he puts in the work over the summer and comes back a better player. First year to 2nd yr is huge. JETS can't work with Hack over the summer until OTAS. Better hope their plan works. Hopefully, they look at a vet as well. Mac drafting him in the 2nd wasn't the best idea. They mishandled the situation from the get go. That's Hack and Petty both. I agree, Cimini gives us articles on snap counts and that's really the only thing he's good for. Not as bad as Manish, but not good either. He always jumps to conclusions.
First to 2nd year is huge. But the first to 2nd year leap can be way easier if you have SOME in game experience
I don't have too much issue with that article really. He's asked a valid question and at least been reasonably even in trying to answer it. It's a reasonable assumption to suggest that he hasn't progressed as much as they had hoped, after all the QB coach got canned. Cimini's not too bad when he sticks to reporting facts and observations. It's the continual digs at the Jets that he likes to put in that annoy me, but these haven't been in evidence as much over the last few years. Mehta's just a troll.
I really hope this kid had the foresight not to read Jets related articles and internet message boards, hasn't even seen anytime on the field in a regular season game, and the masses have completely condemned him, how sad.
What the fuck was Mac thinking? Seriously, what a horrible pick, it's a total joke and embarassment at this point. Thank you Mac for two years in a row perpetuating the futility of 2nd round picks for this franchise. What a waste.
This is Mac damage control 101. He knows this pick was horrible and the blame falls squarely on him. Two horrific 2nd round picks. This off season is make or break for Mac.
Usually when a young QB doesn't play it's because there's already a decent starter. The fact that Hack couldn't get into a game with our QB situation is damning. Geno sucked but at least he could do something.
You should read the NY Times. Much less agita because they barely cover the Jets. I don't think they had more than 3 articles on the Jets this season other than reporting the scores. They know how to treat a team that sucks, pretend it doesn't exist!
Geez.. The Hack rumors, leaks are mounting he aint that good ...And I for one wont kill the messengers of bad news (reporters} its their job..,, Mac is smart and a decent GM Smart people fail too The drafting, for a guy with Scouting background, is just confounding : Lee first rounder a big meh, no impact; d Smith and Hack 2nd Round also both two with NO significant immediate impact for the team Mac has screwed up here ...Has to do better in April...gut says he will
The guy was around Bill O'Brien for a year before taking the Jets gig. You would have to think that his love affair for Hackenberg started there. Obviously we learned this year that BIll O'Brien doesn't know what he's doing after signing Brock the Cock .
